Role Summary

Supports the effectiveness of the risk function within a business line. Applies advanced understanding of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls to advise the business line on executing the risk program(s).

Responsibilities:

* Leveraging strong knowledge of business line, evaluates existing processes, identifies control gaps, and recommends treatments for any gaps found within a business line. Develops reports and delivers these to management.

* Monitors compliance across the business line. Reports risks caused by business activities to senior staff. Evaluates potential courses of action to address complex issues identified and recommends solutions.

* Works with internal auditors when assigned business line is audited and reports on treatment of control gaps that are being put in place.

* Manages and coordinates updates to common language sections in the reporting and ensures alignment to other reporting groups and regulatory framework. Ensures consistent and appropriate presentation of content within reports.

* Contributes to efforts to develop a strong organizational risk culture and applies risk management techniques to assigned business line.

* Monitors and oversees SOX Compliance program working with business stakeholders and external auditors.

* Assist in the creation, documentation, and management of firm-wide processes related to sustainability and climate risks/opportunities.

Qualifications

* Knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks including the development of KRIs, Risk Appetite Statements and reporting.

* Experience working in a financial services business.

* Experience using risk management tools.

* Strong critical thinking and demonstrated ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and assess complex risks.

* Attention to detail.

* Good communicator, written and oral - with proven ability to summarize large volumes of detailed information and produced structured documents in Word, PPT and Excel.

* Self-starter, with strong time management skills, ability to deliver under pressure, prioritize to produce results and communicate challenges.

* Proven track record of working across departments.

Required:

* Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND

* 5+ years of total relevant work experience

* SOX and/or financial reporting knowledge

Preferred:

* CPA or public accounting experience

* Familiarity with current and emerging ESG regulations and frameworks (e.g., ISSB, GHG protocol, SEC climate-related disclosures)

* Strong understanding of sustainability trends, regulations, and industry best practices and developing these into risk policy and appetite statements and risk frameworks.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to two days per week from home.

Base salary ranges:

$103,500.00 - $177,000.00 for the location of: California, New York

$91,000.00 - $155,500.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C

$83,000.00 - $141,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and all other US locations

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
