Manager Service Imaging Position Summary Manages the service, preventive maintenance, acquisition and disposal of radiographic equipment throughout the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell and for network contracts. Has the ability to recognize and react to priorities, ability to lead and the ability to recognize more productive methods/tasks. Has excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to get along well with equipment users. This is a technical (troubleshoots difficult high-end radiology equipment) position, requiring a high degree of judgment.
Essential Job Duties - Manages each group of imaging technicians at NYP/Cornell, LMH, Queens and BMH, by ensuring that priorities in work assignments are met, preventive maintenance compliance is maintained and vendors are manages appropriately, all with patient safety being the top priority.
- Manages acquisition process of new Technology by conducting pre-purchase evaluations and assessment of new technology. Provides recommendations to Director as to alternatives for Technology and Technology service methods on all existing contracts as per the needs and goals of the hospital.
- Responsible for the documentation of service and calibration of radiographic equipment according to state, local and department requirements.
- Coordinates installation of new equipment and upgrades of existing equipment.
- Develops department procedures and policies for operations within the hospital and all new accounts.
- Works with Clinical Department Managers on specific issues related to equipment usage and service. Responsible for adjustment of equipment based upon clinician feedback during procedures. Instructs appropriate hospital staff in the proper use of Imaging Equipment as needed.
- Establishes computer operational parameters by configuring hardware and software for computer assisted instrumentation.
- Executes an equipment preventive maintenance and inspection program to ensure performance and safety standards are maintained as per hospital policy.
- Responsible for updating department's technical knowledge through seminars and technical schools.
- Works with Department to project and meet annual budgets.
- Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Requires occasional on-site presence; therefore, should live within a commutable distance. No relocation assistance available. Required Criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering/Biomedical Engineering or comparable 4 year baccalaureate program.
- Ten years experience in the repair of radiographic equipment
