This role offers a hybrid work option, meaning you can both work from home and commute to a LinkedIn office, depending on what's best for you and when it is important for your team to be together.The video team is looking for an engineering manager who will focus on the video product's growth by leading the team's Comms and Partnerships track. This team will be responsible for growing video liquidity in notifications and email, working with comms AI teams to improve video relevance, and working with biz dev teams to develop video distribution outside LinkedIn. The ideal person for this role will have a deeply technical backend engineering background and understanding of offline and AI systems, excellent communication and exceptional organization skills, a passion for growth, and a data-driven mindset. If you thrive in that environment, this role is for you.Responsibilities:You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.Basic Qualifications:BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.1+ year(s) of management experience or 1+ year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineeringExperience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)Preferred Qualifications:MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Go, etc.Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applicationsUnderstanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systemsSuccessful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with qualityActive involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmapsHire and retain world-class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high impact projects, while taking intelligent risks to improve the way work is doneSuggested Skills:Technical LeadershipCommunicationSoftware DesignCross-organizational collaborationYou will Benefit from our CultureWe strongly believe in the well-being of our employees and their families. The pay range for this role is $147,000 - $240,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
