We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Manager of Support Operations to join our team at Northern Tier in Ely, MN. In this pivotal role, you will direct operational support for all programs for Northern Tier properties and facilities to include but not limited to budgeting, purchasing, capital, hiring of staff and managing IT platforms. You will be responsible for developing strategies that enhance operational workflows, driving process improvements, and leveraging data to optimize service delivery. This position requires a strong leader who can manage a diverse team while fostering a collaborative environment that aligns with our mission.

You will serve as the safety officer for Northern Tier, ensuring adherence to all OSHA, local, state, federal, health department, and NCAP guidelines. The Manager of Support Operations serves as a member of the Northern Tier Management Team and reports to the Vice President and General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and guidance to the registration, retail and facilities staff to ensure all aspects of the Northern Tier operations are successfully achieved. Hires, leads, and guides staff in operating retail shops, facilities and maintenance operations, and Conference business.
- Manages and monitors compliance with OSHA, NCAP and ACA regulatory requirements as they relate to Northern Tier in both the US and Canada.
- Maintains and manages budgets to achieve monthly/annual budget objectives to include but not limited to reviews and approves purchases/invoices and identifies cost saving measures.
- Directs all capital and facilities projects to ensure on-time and under budget completion.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Knowledge of: Safety protocols, equipment usage, risk management, and environmental knowledge; logistics, inventory management, scheduling, budgeting, and emergency response procedures; employee onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution; OSHA, NCAP and ACA regulatory requirements for U.S. and Canada; general business, facilities and maintenance operations.
- Skill in: Motivating and guiding a team; fostering a positive and safety-oriented work environment; creating effective schedules, managing resources, and ensuring smooth operation of the high-adventure base; generating reports on activity participation, retail revenue, and safety incidents to inform strategic decisions.
- Ability to: Quickly assess situations, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt to changing circumstances.
Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience in project management, leading and coaching staff and facility management. Must have experience building mutually beneficial relations with agencies (e.g., NPS, DNR, NF&W, etc.) to optimize internal and external resources.
- Must pass a criminal history background check.
- Must be able to travel to and be admissible to enter Canada under its Border Crossing Requirements.
