Primary Purpose:This Terminal Manager position with Kinder Morgan Incorporated holds responsibility and oversight of bulk terminal operations at the Hertford Marine Terminal in Cofield, NC. The Terminal Manager is a business leader, risk manager, and an employee motivator. Position is responsible for all aspects of the terminal's business including operations, maintenance, customer relationships, profit and loss, and budgeting. This position will manage operations supervisors, maintenance staff, customer service staff, accounting staff, and engineering support. The position will also work closely with the commercial and finance groups in meeting the objectives of the terminal. The position will coordinate with various agencies, local governing bodies, and third party service providers to meet business objectives. Responsibilities:Manage and continue to develop supervisors to lead, train and develop bargaining unit employees for safe-handling of bulk/metal commodities via Marine, Rail, and Motor Carrier.Ensure all terminal activities are conducted in a safe, environmentally compliant manner that maximizes customer satisfaction.Identify and engage levers to meet budget targets and maintain operating margin.Implement and oversee training programs for new and current employeesParticipate in customer meetings and act as liaison between commercial department and customer in order to grow base business and secure new business.Responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting and forecastingManage overtime and other operational costs.Participate in negotiations with the collective bargaining unitPrevent, investigate, and follow up with all incidents.Foster growth and development of KM safety culture among all employeesParticipate in and promote regional and/or corporate initiativesAssist in the standardization, implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for terminal activities.Direct the activities of maintenance, engineering and other terminal support teamsContinuously identify and implement more efficient ways to conduct business, maximizing revenue and driving down costs.Respond to terminal activities as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Perform other duties as directed or required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience managing terminal operations handling bulk materials.Experience supervising various departmental employeesExtensive background in vessel activities associated with stevedoring and warehousingStrong organizational and leadership skills for a multifaceted work environmentExcellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication attributesDetailed oriented and customer focusedFocus on results when surrounded with distractionsWilling to take on other duties as needed without assignment; ability to take initiative, exhibit self-direction and work with co-workers as a team to accomplish goals for a fast paced challenging environmentWork additional hours as needed/requiredProfessional, high energy personality with a positive attitudeMust possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurersFamiliarization with local and Corporate PC management applications including Word and ExcelAbility to troubleshoot operational problems associated with equipment with some experience with mobile equipment, cranes, or other heavy equipmentFamiliarization with applicable regulatory requirements for the handling, storage and transportation of various materials including D.O.T., USCG., F.R.A., F.D.A., DPPC, TPCA, CGMP etcAbility to drive initiatives for establishing the KM safety culture initiativesAbility to manage multimillion dollar budgetsPhysical requirements include but may not be limited to walking and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and lifting or carrying loads.Must be able to wear standard PPE
