- Ensure FHCSD fleet of patient transport vehicles are utilized to meet the increased demand for patient transportation needs.
- Oversee operations related to maintaining the schedule for all vehicles and drivers ensuring patient transport needs are met.
- As needed, manage and negotiate with outsource vendor resources to manage peak events.
- Serve as the lead for FHCSD on obtaining rental or leased vehicles as needed to meet needs and requirements of Transportation Services.
- Consult with and provide feedback on organizational patient transport needs and requirements, including staffing and candidate selection, transportation planning, development of standard operating procedures, developing standards, and metrics reporting.
- Build positive relationships, inspire others to perform at a higher level, prepare career development plans and retain an accountable workforce.
- Manage assigned team to include hiring, providing performance management, training, scheduling, and corrective discipline (including termination) as needed.
- Ensure staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time. Train staff for competencies and track all driver scores and certifications.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of new vehicles and equipment.
- Acquire State-required certificates of title and schedule registrations and State inspections.
- Coordinate inspection of and evaluate fleet needed repair or service work.
- Use data analytics to deploy vehicles and manage the drivers across FHCSD that support and service a wide range of programs in supporting demand for patient transport.
- Manage and oversee the coordination and scheduling of transportation for patients to ensure transportation is on schedule, timelines are met, and services are at the highest level of operational efficiency.
- Ensure schedules, cancelled schedules, and rescheduled trips are met. Adjust as needed in meeting unanticipated changes and communicate those changes to the appropriate affected personnel.
- Oversee the coordination of passenger rescue when vehicle issues arise.
- Model and promote service excellence by developing and maintaining positive respectful relationships with patients, families/caregivers, team members, and all staff throughout the organization.
- Maintain all records for transportation, and ensure established policies and procedures are communicated and followed.
- Ensure insurance providers requirements and standards are met. Control insurance risk and oversee insurance claims and recovery.
- Manage Transportation needs for the PACE program:
- Oversee PACE Supervisors.
- Check scheduling and cross train staff to manage scheduling.
- Establish management hierarchy for the program.
- Create and manage a communication system with PACE leadership as well as company.
- Manage Driver meetings for safety, opportunity, and morale.
- Manage IRs and grievances to resolve service issues.
- Driver training as mentioned above as well as specific PACE trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, or closely related field preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
- Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 7 years. Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)
- 2 years supervisory experience required.
- 3 years of strongly related experience working in transportation service operations required.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong leadership skills in completing work through others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate with all levels of an organization.
- Knowledge and use of data analytics with the ability to apply to operational needs and outcomes.

In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
