At Sauder Manufacturing, how do we do our work â new technology, new products and new ideas â changes constantly â but our values â how we treat our customers, suppliers and each other â never change.Position Summary:The Managerial Accountant helps business units make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and correcting the company's financial and product cost records. They ensure the integrity of the cost information and communicate cost/profit information in a timely and user-friendly manner. They will analyze cost information with the intent of identifying issues and opportunities for improvement, and they will be a key resource for product information to all areas in the organization. In addition, they will coordinate the year-end physical inventory process and be responsible for various financial accounting functions, including various general ledger and accounts payable duties.Captures and classifies cost data to determine the cost associated with products/product lines, projects, or departments.Compares actual costs to historical or projected costs and reports on variance.Updates material, labor and overhead standard costs.Provides cost-related data in support of business decisions or for use in financial reporting.Coordinates year-end physical counts with plant personnel and external auditors.Determines job and product profitability by verification and input of material, labor, overhead, freight, commission, and miscellaneous cost into the cost system.Accumulates and verifies data needed for month-end journal entries related to inventory and product costing.Generates various monthly reports utilizing Excel and Cognos Impromptu query applications.Completes various profitability and rate analysis studies as required.Generates month-end labor and production journals.Cross-trains in accounts payable functions.Experience and Knowledge RequiredBachelor's degree and 0 to 2 years of experience or combination of experience and education.Proficient with Excel and query tools such as Cognos Impromptu.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Strong attention to detail while meeting deadlines.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.Contribute to a friendly, high-performing team atmosphere.Key Attributes Required:A self-starting, goal-oriented, customer-focused individual who takes personal accountability and is driven by the achievement of the vision and objectives of the Business Units and Shared Core Processes in accordance with the Company's Leadership Values.Able to execute actions and implement projects directly within the Business Units and Shared Core Processes outside of direct operational responsibilities.Strong leadership and facilitation skills coupled with the ability to remain rational and in control when confronted with difficult circumstances or crises.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
