What You Will Be Doing

The Managing Docket Clerk is responsible for ensuring the effective management of litigation docket services across all Firm offices. The position will be responsible for implementing performance measurements to ensure the integrity of litigation docket procedures. This position requires extensive knowledge of court filing rules and the ability to research such rules across all applicable jurisdictions. The Manager must also be familiar with litigation docket software and how to administer the software effectively for best results within the Firm. The Manager will interact with representatives of all offices, litigation practices areas and administrative departments including lawyers, legal staff and administration, and third-party docketing vendors.

In addition, the Docket Manager will be responsible with occasionally assisting with case filings and court-related services as needed.? Ability to work independently on projects and research assignments.

About This Role

* Supervise the workflow of the Docketing Clerks who maintain and update dockets for Litigation / Controversy practice groups, including Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation, Business Trial Group, IP Litigation and Post Grant Proceedings, and Bankruptcy. Oversee docketing of the Firm's administrative deadlines.

* Ensure quality control procedures and service standards are in place to minimize risk for the firm.

* Acquire and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the required technical environment needed in order to provide expected level of docketing support.

* Manage workload across groups to ensure service standards are maintained.

* Serve as the main point of contact for issue resolution and queries. Field questions from staff and lawyers on questions relating to policy, procedure, best practices and use of the docketing systems.

* Create and maintain all docketing related training resources. Provide training to the Docketing Specialists and implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy in docketing entries and compliance with firm procedures.

* Provide training and ongoing support to Firm administrative departments as needed.

* Provide specialized firmwide docket reporting support to Firm and Practice Group management as requested.

* Manage relationships with third-party system providers. Work with Systems to ensure docketing systems are functioning properly.

* Provide docketing support by maintaining and updating dockets as necessary.

* Produce the weekly Medtronic Calendar

* Produce weekly tickler reports firmwide

Required Skills

Your Qualifications/What You Will Bring

* Experience with litigation docket management software, such as eDocket, Court Alert or Compulaw. Candidates with a background which includes docket software implementation, rollout, testing and training experience are preferred.

* Extensive knowledge of court filing rules and deadlines, and the ability to research such rules across all applicable jurisdictions.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to provide information in a precise easy to understand format via written correspondence, e-mail, or verbally.

* Ability to supervise and motivate docketing team and provide constructive feedback when necessary to ensure quality control procedures and service standards are in place.

* Ability to work successfully in a team setting with a wide range of lawyers and staff.

* Dependable team player, able to follow written and oral instructions, and excellent judgment about when escalation is necessary or appropriate.

Required Experience

Required Experience:

* Minimum of 3-5 years' experience performing docketing responsibilities.

Education:

* BA or BS degree. JD preferred.
