The Managing Director will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.The programs under this portfolio include GRADS (Guardians Responding and Developing Strategies), 3-Year-Old Journey, The Baby College, and Community Pride. These programs offer our parents and community members the resources and educational support needed to create an enriching environment for their children and peers. The leadership of the Managing Director is pivotal in enhancing the experiences of our families and communities through supportive approaches. This role serves as a member of Harlem's Children's Zone Senior Leadership Team and will report to the Chief Program Officer.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree or better in Education, Psychology or closely related field6+ years of management experience in a multi-service, community-based organizationMust be available to work flexible hours (after hours, weekends, holidays, etc.)Who you areMaster's degree in social work, psychology, sociology or closely related field with advanced knowledge of Childhood Development and community organizing is strongly preferredMinimum of 6 years of supervisory and program management experience in a multi-service family and community-based organizationA commitment to our mission and prioritization of children first, servant leadership and place-based workDemonstrate excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills, including the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgroundsAbility to bonds.Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of family and community events, programs, and activitiesCollaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure quality services are being provided to our families and communityBuild and maintain strong relationships with parents, community leaders, and stakeholdersStay informed about relevant trends, research, and best practices in family and community developmentDirect supervision and assessment of portfolio directorsEnsure all departments are in compliance with all funding mandates, applicable laws, and regulationsDevelop and mitigate potential crises affecting family and community engagement by implementing plans that address root causesAdministrative DutiesManage and allocate resources effectively to support community and parent engagement activitiesOversee financial reporting of several million dollars to ensure transparency in the use of program fundsEnsure compliance with relevant standards and regulationsSupervise and support community engagement coordinators, interns, and outreach workersEstablish data collection and evaluation systems to monitor community engagement activitiesPrepare reports and provide information for annual assessmentsLeverage data and learning to inform program design and executionReview program budgets and staffing to ensure they are aligned with the organization's vision and strategic planProvide high-quality annual reports and quarterly status reports that communicate performance toward all annual targets and dynamic intervention strategies to with internal and external stakeholders to create education, resources, and engagement experience for parents, families, and community membersCoordinate and co-create engagement activities with HCZ Community Centers and Athletics DepartmentLead and coach portfolio staff to ensure best practices for early childhood development program and community engagementEnsure successful execution of programmatic innovations outlined in the strategic plan, which include College & Career Readiness, Wellness & Mental Health, St. Nicholas Partnerships, Healthy Harlem, and Wealth BuildsContribute to the development of HCZ's strategic goals and objectives, as well as overall management and leadershipAssess and recommend new areas for program developmentPeople ManagementDirectly oversee program
