Position:

This position leads the development, execution, and evaluation of AJSOCAL's immigration legal services practices, including (but not limited to): development and management of program, fundraising, and communications strategies; guiding the organization's advocacy on immigration issues; and informing impact litigation opportunities to improve access to immigration remedies for the communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organizational operation of immigration legal services, in LA and regional offices.
  • Provide substantive legal expertise with program strategies, vision and design.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of program leaders and staff (as necessary).
  • Build a team-centered client service model, and monitor issues related to services to manage cooperation, ongoing engagements, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate client services with other attorneys and units, including strategy sessions with agency Litigation Director and Policy Director
  • Develop fundraising strategies, and manage current funding, including tracking progress towards deliverables, drafting grant reports, and communications with funders.
  • Manage the overall budget for immigration programs.
  • Work in cooperation with other units within the agency to advance policies affecting clients.
  • Cultivate, maintain, and oversee community partnerships.
  • Support and instruct community outreach opportunities for programs, including how to inform appropriate responses to community needs and requests.
  • Develop communications strategies, and provide communications support, including with media, community stakeholders, and donors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. and must be an active member of the California State Bar
  • Minimum of eight years of diverse immigration legal practice, preferably representing underrepresented client communities.
  • Minimum of two years of supervision.
