THE ROLE: Xylem seeks to hire a Manual Machinist Second Shift (Nights). The ideal candidate will be responsible for the functions listed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set up & operate manual lathes .
  • Read blueprints, job orders & charts such as engineered dimensions, tolerances & tooling instructions, such as type of holding fixtures, cutting speeds & feeds and cutting tools needed.
  • Move controls to set specified rotation speeds, feed rates, & depth of cuts.
  • Read & use fixed gages, calipers and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics
  • Support all safety & 5S requirements related to this position.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED plus 2-4 years of lathe operation experience.
  • Ability to read complicated drawings, layouts, method sheets and specifications.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics and formulas, plus thorough knowledge of all basic lathe operations, methods and set-ups.
  • Should also be familiar with cutting quality of various metals, grinding and setting of tools according to metal characteristics.

  • Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about work site. Use of power tools.
  • Regularly required to listen, talk to, and see employees on a daily basis.

  • Outdoor work environment, exposure to various elements
  • Must be able to work Monday - Saturday ( hours can flex ranging from 5:00am to 5:00pm)
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
