General Description: The Manufacturing Engineer for Assembly supports new assembly work to the production floor and assists in the continuous improvement activities required to maintain and improve current production of assembled parts. The Manufacturing Engineer for Assembly reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities: - Support and follow the Company Safety Program
- Update and maintain assembly process documents
- Collaborating with external vendors and internal stakeholders to conduct design reviews of the production equipment throughout the development process
- Assist in designing and fabricating assembly fixtures and ancillary assembly equipment
- Audit assembly processes for continuous improvement ideas
- Assist with first time production run, and data collection
- Analyzing downtime data to identify processes causing downtime, or trends in overall performance
- Travel to customer sites to complete the following:
- Collect relevant assembly and equipment information (Ex. Assembly process, equipment identification, etc...)
- Complete a site visit report, detailing critical data from customer visit
- Complete cost change requests to capture proposed and initiated assembly process changes
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field or 8-10yrs Experience in a technical automotive assembly role.
- Five years of experience in manufacturing processing in automotive industry.
- Ability to develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings. (Solidworks, AutoCAD preferred)
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to lift 35+ pounds
- Six Sigma Black Belt preferred, Green Belt required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Assembly Fixture Design
- Knowledge of unique assembly operations
- Knowledge of Automotive Body components.
- Knowledge of ISO/TS16949 quality requirements.
- Knowledge of costing activities.
Job Location: Supports the Gerstco Operations Group with some travel as required.
