Tesla's Energy Remanufacturing team is looking for a highly motivated Equipment and Manufacturing Engineer to create, develop and scale up manufacturing processes for our Energy products remanufacturing operations. This role will invent, develop, scale up and optimize manufacturing processes within a cross-functional engineering team. This role will also be responsible for line layout development and iteration. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla to evaluate field data and drive improvements to our product development and manufacturing processes
* Be an expert leader in the technical discussion and define process and Equipment development roadmap for assembly processes
* Work with internal and external teams to develop innovative process, product and equipment design solutions to advance manufacturing
* Plan and Execute DoEs to characterize boundary conditions and optimize process for manufacturability and quality
* Develop and manage PFMEA, DFMEA risk assessments to prioritize process improvement projects and ensure adequate metrology and controls are in place
* Use tools like Minitab/JMP for data analysis and presentation of experimental data
* Establish process controls for SPC and develop process related OCAPs
* Lead product design for manufacturability (DFM), DFMEA and sustainability, including:
* Analysis of product design and identification of potential risks to the process
* Run CAE/CFD simulations to theoretically understand /De-risk new process/Equipment design changes
* Build process documentation to accurately define the process to cross-functional teams (equipment, quality, production, etc.)
* 6+ years relevant experience in interdisciplinary/integrated engineering, process development, manufacturing engineering
* Experience with dispensing applications, welding, and electromechanical assembly is preferred
* Evidence of Deep understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards manufacturing process development
* Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting and configuration. Good overall computer skills with demonstrated ability in Siemens programming language is preferred
* 3+ years in a highly automated, high volume manufacturing facility, good understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Safety, Ergonomics, Change Point Management, Spare Parts Management, is a plus
* Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions, preferred
* Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, experience developing and improving HMI's, Fanuc Robotics/Ignition Experience, preferred
* Demonstrated capabilities in manufacturing process development for new products and Ability to transfer technologies from R&D into manufacturing is required
* Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines amidst changing requirements, deadlines, and priorities
* Manufacturing process specification and evaluation experience
