Job Summary INTEGRA Biosciences Corporation is an industry leader in innovative liquid handling products for the medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical, biotech, and food industries. The Manufacturing Engineer II will evaluate existing manufacturing processes and improve productivity and quality. Lead a team to qualify equipment, train personnel, and develop maintenance plans. Responsible for coordinating the manufacturing start-up efforts for new product launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes, and assisting the manufacturing operations in problem-solving and continuous process improvements.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop new processes and assess and document new and existing processes. Implement and evaluate changes to existing processes designed to improve product quality, productivity, and overall equipment efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and molding personnel
- Develop and maintain process documentation, ensuring that processes and procedures are clearly stated and understandable for all employees. Provide technical support/solutions to manufacturing processes, improve yield and throughput, drive cost reduction activities, and improve on part quality
- Implement new processes and equipment to scale up the volume of production
- Evaluate and procure equipment for automated production. Work with internal and external teams to qualify equipment, train personnel, and develop operating and maintenance procedures
- Review new product designs for manufacturing. Support transfer of products from R&D into production
- Interact with product design engineering staff to support design concepts for ease of manufacturing
- Implement technical solutions, including statistical methodology and data collection systems, to meet customer cost, quality, and deliver expectations
- Provide engineering support to production when necessary.
- Investigate manufacturing problems, find solutions, and implement corrective actions
- Facilitate and support facility and manufacturing safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts
Qualifications and Requirements- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Plastics Engineering is required
- Minimum or 5 years of practical work experience in an Injection Molding Operation
- 8+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with automation and vision systems
- Capable of designing and building fixtures with a working knowledge of machine shop practices
- Familiar with injection molding and automation in a high-volume cleanroom environment
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- 6-Sigma green belt desired
