Support of Design for Manufacturability and participation in lean improvement activities are required. Work closely with Industrial Engineering to design and implement process and equipment layouts and improvements. Support Operations through technical support, product design, and quality standards.Must have strong root cause corrective action skills and be highly energetic. Must have strong personal, statistical, and technical writing skills. This section should indicate the level of discretion and latitude of the role such as works independently ; works under close supervision ; works under general supervision etc.Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)A. New Product Developmenti) As a member of an Integrated Program Team, provide support to ensure program is successful and serve as the focal of Tooling, Fabrication, Operations and Manufacturing Planning to ensure the needs of these groups are met and communication is clearii) Collaborate with engineering throughout design and development process, capture and document engineering/build problems and work with engineering to solve, support design review processiii) Ensure designs and build process meet cycle time expectations/goalsiv) Perform PFMEA for general product and specific designs as neededv) Ensure drawings and designs meet requirements for internal DFM guidelines and continually update these guidelines as requiredvi) Work with Manufacturing Planning and Industrial Engineering/ME Planner (VWI) team to ensure routing and instructions for subassemblies and seat assembly are clear and correct and include proper instructions and toolsvii) Prepare for a smooth product launch and support pre-production and production build areasB) Production SupportProduction and Design Improvementi) Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturingii) Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processesiii) Determine root causes of failures using statistical or lean methods and recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methodsTravel specifictityInternational and/or Domestic travel required; add estimated percentage of timeAdditional descriptioniv) Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standardsv) Review product design for manufacturability or completenessProcess Improvementvi) Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operationsvii) Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectivenessviii) Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiencyProcess Efficiencyix) Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering proceduresx) Analyze the financial impacts of sustainable manufacturing such as by implementing sustainable manufacturing processes or manufacturing sustainable productsxi) Purchase equipment, consumable, and non-consumable toolsxii) Train production personnel in new or existing methodsxiii) Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipmentxiv) Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances or bottlenecksxv) Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performanceSafran Seats USA is an equal opportunity employer. Education & Qualification• B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g.: Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experienceB. Work Experience - Technical knowledge• Additionally three years of manufacturing experience required in a Manufacturing Engineer, Industrial Engineer or related Engineering capacity• Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred• Catia V.5 or design modeling a plusC. Professional Skills• Must have intermediate knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes• Must be capable of preparing well-written reports and orderly reports • Must have sufficient knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of such fields as product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work, etc. • Must have basic knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing• Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems• Able to conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical defects• Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. • Ability to read and review written communication. • Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English. D.
