POSITION SUMMARY:The Manufacturing/Project Engineer is responsible for the execution of complex projects, from cradle-to-grave, while supporting the strategic objectives of the company. You will be a part of the engineering team pushing value-stream enhancements, working side-by-side with Operations and our technical experts to solve our internal customers' most challenging projects. At Novipax this role gives you the autonomy to be creative and develop unique solutions that drive new processes and capabilities that reach across the entire company.RESPONSIBILITES / DUTIES:
  • Ensures compliance with all corporate and plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage compliance with standards and specifications for quality control and assurance.
  • Identify and develop capital projects required to drive higher efficiency and address plant capacity needs
  • Manage the execution of capital projects, including developing project scope, developing machinery specifications, coordinating outside resources, scheduling to minimize interruptions to operations, and delivering on time and on budget.
  • Utilizes and implements process control methodology to solve problems and improve process control and capability issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans and systems, coordinating with site personnel.
  • Direct efforts in gaining and maintaining knowledge of ongoing trends in the industry that lead to improvements in product quality, product consistency, product efficiency, or initiatives for cost reductions.
  • Work closely with all plant locations to define process specifications, which include but are not limited to machinery set-ups, operating conditions, set points, tolerances, processing procedures and packaging specifications, based on strong understanding of customer requirements.
  • Works closely with Continuous Improvement team to focus on Cost Reduction, Scrap Reduction, Capacity Improvement, etc.
  • Assist in preparation of major capital expenditure requests to improve existing operations, increase efficiencies, improve product quality, or commercialize new technologies. Serve as a resource on plant technologies, control systems, and raw materials.
  • Supports the effective implementation of investment projects approved for capacity or facility expansion and upgrades.
  • Ensures plans are in place to meet all performance indicator targets/goals
  • Works closely with other departments such as sales/marketing, engineering, and customers to understand and meet their needs. Conduct regular meetings with all parties to ensure clarification and meet specific requirements in a timely manner.
EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with similar processes
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years in Process, Maintenance, or Operations roles in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Program/Project management experience preferred; must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, collaboration, creativity, and innovation
  • Controls (PLC) programming experience a strong plus
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations
  • Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization
  • Ability to systematically work through problems, can work with deadlines individually or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of automated packaging equipment, Lean and Preventative Maintenance systems preferred
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and team mentoring/building
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to translate strategy into executable tactical plans
  • Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Power Point, and Excel are required
  • Ability to travel as required estimated at fifty (50%) percent of the time,
