Position Overview:
The manufacturing engineer is primarily responsible for a predictable flow of quality product at rate. The objective of the ME includes defining, crafting, and implementing optimal methods to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery of the product lifecycle. Manufacturing engineers routinely interface with the customer, program manager, manufacturing leads and operators, and process engineers to accomplish the tasks necessary to meet the goals. The engineer supports the manufacturing process development and maintenance of this for his/her products, and maintains an awareness of impact of all facets of the process on product cost. The engineer is the primary technical contact for the customer with IEC, and assures customer satisfaction through required data, reports and corrective action.
Manufacturing Engineer Accountabilities
* Drive continual improvement on customer Quality, OTD, Rework hours, Internal defects, Labor Efficiency and Cost Reductions for assigned customers
* Interface with current customers on new products, provide DFM as required
* Support NPI process for existing customers
* Support configuration control with assigned product revision changes / ECO's
* Assure design configuration compliance of product (drawings) to contractual agreements through review and assessment
* Validate the BOM to provide specific material that align with the optimal manufacturing process for the assigned product
* Assure Labor routings are complete and accurate
* Identify Equipment and tooling required for producing product assignments
* Define SOP's to assure best practices as they relate to product realization
* Consult Process Detail writers on best practice manufacturing methods for assigned products
* Validate and approve Process Details for assigned products
* Assess efficiency of planned labor tasks and propose/implement actions to increase efficiency
* Validate recurring labor and non-recurring expense (tooling/equipment) for assigned products
* Define need for new processes required to produce assembly
* Team with people leader sharing assigned product value stream to resolve issues relating to
o Defect data
o Customer returns
o Efficiency
o Conformance to defined process
o OTD
* CIT leader - hold weekly/bi-weekly meetings - keeps OIL
* Product training of cell lead/operators
* Providing required customer data
o Weekly/monthly/quarterly data reports flow through ME
o NPI product status
o Answers customer use issues/defects in customer manufacturing
o Overseer of CAR prior to submitting to customer
o QBR meeting preparation and reporting

Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: BS Engineering desirable
Minimum Experience: 3-5 years experience in a similar role, or a combination of education and experience

* Intermediate Microsoft Word skills as evidenced by the ability to perform all of the basic functions as well as create moderately complex documents containing tables and graphs, and ability to mail merge documents, apply page setup functions (margins, page numbers, footers, headers), create an index and/or table of contents, use search & replace, print labels and envelopes.
* Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills as evidenced by the ability to perform all of the basic functions as well as the ability to use workbooks, link data, create and edit charts, change page orientation, add headers and footers, filter and sort lists, format data, insert rows, enter and sort data and produce graphs and charts.
* Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint skills as evidenced by the ability to create (from a master template) standard IEC reports including charts, pictures and notation.
* Familiarity with internet usage of search engines to find component datasheets for verification of components during First Article Inspection.
