The Position
The Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements safe, optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, facilities, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
Key Performance & Result Areas
- Manage small to large-scale projects according to strategic company initiates.
- Lead new product manufacturing process launches and serve as focal point for other departments to ensure timelines are met and customer requirements are fulfilled. Establish manufacturing project milestones, develop countermeasure plans when targets are not met, and escalate when appropriate.
- Lead assembly efficiency initiatives to reduce cost, prepare project proposals, and provide status updates to upper management.
- Evaluate new and current processes, tools and equipment. Develop controls/ countermeasures to eliminate safety hazards, through job safety risk assessments.
- Assist with preparation and control of capital budget, and capital requests.
- Employ Lean Manufacturing techniques and actively engage other team members throughout the company to further develop a continuous improvement culture.
- Daily problem solving to address safety, quality, and delivery issues. Develop corrective actions through the 5 why's and other root cause analysis techniques.
- Lead in the design and development of new process equipment, tooling, and QA devices that ensure customer requirements are met.
- Initiate and manage changes through the EC (Engineering Change) system.
- Initiate and maintain both work instructions and quality control documentation.
Job Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering or project management experience.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication.
- Technology: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Solid Modeling Software, and ERP software.
Other Requirements:
- Experience and/or training in safe work environments, capital improvement, and maintaining compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- 3-5 years of experience with Lean Manufacturing
- Capable of managing multiple projects of various complexities
- Able to manage conflicts and relationships within project teams as well as with other disciplines and departments
- Able to direct and/or supervise a project team
- Able to oversee all activities within a project and provide project updates as required
- Heavy industrial equipment and welding/fabrication background is preferred
Supervisory Responsibility - This position will occasionally have 1 direct report (Intern) and occasional oversight of production personal.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel - This position requires occasional travel, including travel outside the local area and overnight
