Staffmark has partnered with a leader in flow measurement solutions and is seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Cranston, Rhode Island. Our client specializes in producing high-quality flow meters renowned for their reliability and accuracy across various industries, including wastewater treatment, oil and gas, power generation, and automotive applications.
We are seeking someone with enough experience to evaluate current machinery and processes and find ways to improve time/process to increase production (from start to ship).
Salary: $90,000 - $120,000/yr.
Schedule: 7am - 3pm, Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, validate, and improve manufacturing processes for small to medium-run fabrication/machining operations involving tight tolerance metal components and assemblies.
* Analyze and optimize workflows, space requirements, and equipment layouts to improve overall manufacturing efficiency and quality.
* Specify, justify, and oversee equipment upgrades or modifications, including cost estimates and project management, to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
* Collaborate closely with weld and product engineers to ensure manufacturing routings are accurate and efficient for reliable execution in production.
* Conduct and maintain time studies and tools for pricing estimates, optimizing production techniques, and improving workflow.
* Provide direction and leadership development for department leads in Welding, Machining, Programming, Assembly, General Fabrication, and Finishing.
* Coordinate the sequencing of complex manufacturing steps (e.g., welding, CNC machining, assembly) to balance speed and quality effectively.
* Manage high-level production disruptions, such as equipment breakdowns or material shortages, minimizing operational impact.
* Collaborate with department leads to identify and implement strategies for productivity enhancement and cost reduction.
* Work with the Quality Manager and team to align manufacturing techniques with ISO 9001 standards and quality plans.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field (preferred); business education is a plus.
* 7-10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, including expertise in Welding, Machining, Finishing, Estimating, Routing, and Scheduling.
* Proficiency in ERP systems (Shoptech E2 preferred) and managing processes for metal fabricated products.
* Extensive departmental experience in CNC machining, manual machining (VTL, horizontal boring mills), welding, general fabrication (brake, plasma table), finishing (blasting/painting), and packaging/crating for domestic and export.
* Familiarity with certifications and standards such as ISO 9001, ASME, ITAR, and CMMC 2.0.
* Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills for crisis management, long-term improvements, and meeting short-term deadlines.
* Practical expertise in welding (ASME-certified pressure piping, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, heat treating), machining (3-5 axis CNC milling, CNC turning with live tooling, manual machining), and finishing (blast prep, painting, outsourced anodizing).
* Proficiency in NDE methods (VT, PT, RT, hydrotesting) and GD&T, with a deep understanding of machining and welding complex materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys (e.g., Inconel, super duplex, chrome moly).
