Job Description:

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide engineering support and lead projects in the design, re-design, installation, and troubleshooting of processes, equipment, and products at the Chanute, KS facility.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes and products through use of continuous improvement roadmap.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop new or redesign existing equipment, processes, products, tooling, and methods related to the manufacture of ducting and consistent with finished product specification.
  • Design, installation, and debug of tooling and capital equipment.
  • Supports maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting in functional and operational activities in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work on designated Research & Development projects as assigned.
  • Develops and maintains technical and project documentation.
  • Participate, support, and lead company's lean manufacturing/kaizen events.
  • Work with department leaders to manage and improve plant 5S through various activities.
  • Lead standard work development and documentation for products and processes.
  • Conduct training in lean activities, 5S, kaizen, standard work, and problem solving.

Experience and Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2 -5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of processing operations, ergonomics, and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Lean and Six Sigma experience a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Well organized with a focused attention to detail.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced skill with all MS Office products
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Programming with PLCs, Arduino, Raspberry Pi a plus

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to the Engineering Manager
  • Constant internal communication with Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Planning, Customer Finance, Sales, and Marketing
