Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide engineering support and lead projects in the design, re-design, installation, and troubleshooting of processes, equipment, and products. This role will also be responsible for facilitating continuous improvement of business processes by deploying a variety of tools, processes and concepts that improve performance and by ensuring associate actions and activities are aligned to support business goals.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of projects
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
- Identify and mitigate project risks and constraints
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials and components
- Monitor and report project progress to stakeholders and management
- Conduct engineering analyses and problem-solving to optimize designs and processes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product quality
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on project goals and timelines
- Supports maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting in functional and operational activities in the manufacturing environment
- Assists in creating, modifying and revising manufacturing work instructions and process flow documentation
- Consults and reviews with the Engineering Manager regarding project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
- Develops and maintains technical and project documentation
- Observes safety and security procedures
- Work with assigned functional leaders to establish priorities regarding continuous improvement and safety
- Promote and facilitate the diagnosis of flow of work and information (Value Stream Mapping)
- Evolve OPEX within the business with key leaders and ensure the daily use and communication of lean/CI tools within the manufacturing process (Visual Management, Lean Daily Management)
- Work with site leadership to develop future factory vision and roadmap for execution
- Experience with formal root cause analysis methodologies
- Develop and deploy lean tools and growth tools throughout the organization SMED, TPM, Standard Work
- Perform benchmarking studies as required
- Run and facilitate kaizen events as needed
Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 2 -5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of processing operations, ergonomics, and mechanical assembly processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Well organized with a focused attention on detail.
- Demonstrated experience in lean tools (value stream mapping, SMED, TPM, Standard Work)
- Proven track record of leading lean initiatives to achieve business results
Technical Skills
- Clear writing skills and advanced level computer skills (word processing, database, spreadsheet)
- Experience with engineering software (Solid Works)
- Ability to accurately assess business and operational metrics
- Ability to facilitate, develop, and implement a Lean roadmap for an operating business
- Excellent communications and work-related instruction skills
- Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments and learning tools
Organizational Relationships
- Reports to the Engineering Manager
- Constant internal communication with Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Planning, Customer Finance, Sales, and Marketing
