Manufacturing Engineer MCP Job Summary The engineer is to provide engineering services to the operations for both new project work and existing process sustainability. Reduce process and product variability, improve quality, and reduce cost. Responsible for a variety of technical assignments as needed and to create innovative solutions to technological problems. A broad skill set is desired in the areas of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process control.
Essential Functions - Continuously evaluates the process/equipment to improve cycle time, reduce scrap, and improve efficiencies.
- Assist in the layout and installation of equipment, system hookups i.e., water, air, power, as well as material handling equipment.
- Startup and debug new equipment installations in cooperation with Maintenance.
- Develop and record operating parameters for products on all lines.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots process problems above and beyond the operator's ability.
- Works without supervision to solve normal production process problems.
- Manage capital and expense projects.
- Maintain safety, product quality, and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting and resolution of process variation, across all production and process areas.
- Works with internal and external customers/vendors to resolve technical/quality issues and provide special expertise.
- Participates in cross-functional work teams (plant staff, operators, electricians, and mechanics, Process Owner, R&D, Marketing, Vendor and Customer) to resolve problems and develop new products and processes.
- Start-ups, new products, and equipment (supervises installation, troubleshoots initial production, ensures new process stability and products meet requirements, documents, and transfers to Production).
- Incorporates Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles into projects and operations.
- Develops detailed project scopes, drafts project Gantt charts, writes CEPs and manages projects to completion and in budget.
Job Qualifications Required
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a disciplined manner and effectively propose and carry out effective solutions to a range of complex problems is mandatory.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, have good interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Problem solving and reasoning skills using quantitative and qualitative information.
Preferred
- BS Degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical preferred.
- Manufacturing experience is desirable.
- Project and equipment design experience is desirable.
- Continuous Improvement principles, Design of Experiments and Six Sigma are highly desirable.
Environment - While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in an environment with above normal heat conditions, flashing lights, noise levels exceeding 90 decibels, sirens and horns, light dust in the air, powered moving equipment passing nearby, moving machine parts and cool temperatures.
