The Manufacturing Engineer works with teams to provide the required designs and documentation for production, applies engineering design knowledge to create the necessary drawings, understands internal opportunities to provide priority, and utilizes problem solving methodology to identify root causes of product application/quality problems to assist with solutions.The role will rely on Faro Arm and Polyworks, or similar CMM equipment for dimensional accuracy checks, and SolidWorks for creating detailed 3D models and engineering documentation. This position plays a key role in leading continuous improvement initiatives, and driving corrective actions to eliminate defects and improve product quality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Leadership Competencies Leads Advanced Quality Planning Activities •Works with the team with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and creating/ modifying Control Plans •Works closely with the production, materials and maintenance teams to ensure PFMEAs and control plans are up to date, accurate, and effectively communicated to the quality technicians. •Supports and facilitates Customer required advanced quality planning activities (DPAR's) •Coordinates Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to meet or exceed Customer expectations. •Utilizes Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor process variations and ensure product consistency. Quality Event Management Delivers Great Customer Service •Effectively serves as primary quality contact for all Customer issues. •Leads the 8D process for corrective actions, ensuring timely root cause identification and implementation of global corrective and preventive measures. •Completes approval, review, and closure of all Corrective Action Preventative Actions (CAPAs). •Determines party responsibility for disposition of NCM between Customer, Company, and Supplier. •Collaborates with Immediate Action Response Team to identify short term critical path, manages containment activities, leads root cause analysis, and implements long term solutions. •Monitors quality performance KPIs, tracks, analyzes, and improves. •Oversees calibration programs for inspection equipment, ensuring all tools used in quality inspections (e.g., micrometers, calipers, and CMM) meet required standards and maintain accuracy. Audit Management •Coordinates Company personnel, prepares for, and participates in audits. •Communicates with customer to ensure completion of necessary supplier (Company) documentation including quality self-surveys. •Conducts audits of new and existing suppliers to determine manufacturing capability and adherence to accepted quality practices. •Performs internal verification audits of production and internal procedures. •Identifies areas for improvements and enters CAPAs as necessary to rectify any non-conforming activities. Maintains Professional & Technical Knowledge •Attends educational workshops and networking opportunities. •Reviews professional publications. Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from a college, university, or technical school and/or 5 years of experience in lean manufacturing or process improvements; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical Skills: •Six Sigma or Lean Training. •Experience with Kaizen, Six Sigma, and poka-yoke for reducing waste and improving product quality. •Ability to read blueprints to include GD&T. •Critical Thinking: Able to display high level reasoning skills to solve multiple, complex situations. •Attention to Detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task. •Manufacturing processes and process improvement. •Advanced Computer Skills. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Database systems.
