We are guided by our belief that we do our best work when we work as One Team.About this RoleThe Manufacturing Engineer will assist manufacturing operations whenever needed in the Thomaston Plant. This includes equipment problem solving, design changes for increased production efficiency of existing equipment, design of new automated or hand assembly equipment for new product specifications, and design of quality fixtures and gages. The position also requires management of project commercialization and international equipment relocations as schedules dictate.ResponsibilitiesDesign of machine improvements and new features. Assembly and troubleshooting of new designs.Assisting maintenance with equipment problems.Root Cause analyze of equipment and product failures.Sourcing parts and materials from internal and external sources.Must have Manufacturing Experience and Tooling Design Knowledge.Must be experienced with suppliers and equipment manufacturers.Manufacturing experience working with product design engineering changes and product structure changes to automated electrical mechanical hardware.Experience with high-speed continuous motion, configuration management, and automation controls a plus.Complete tool and gage designs as requested by Product Engineers. Designs will range from revising pencil drawings to creation of complete Solid Edge 3D solid models.Work with inside or outside suppliers to build the designs you are responsible for.Using Available software, translate drawings provided by outside suppliers to Solid Edge 2D or 3D.Assist in troubleshooting production problems on our Assembly equipment, tools, and gages.Participate in team activities such as Tooling/Process reviews, cost reduction, mistake proofing, and other special projects to improve our operations.Contribute to the Continuous Improvement Program for all areas of production.Help set standards in tool and gage design that promotes production flexibility while reducing change over times.Other duties as assigned.Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesQualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical disciplineMinimum of three to five years related experience and/or training.Equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience with computer-aided-drafting such as Solid Edge, AutoCAD, etc.Experience in design of mechanical equipment with emphasis on mechanisms, pneumatics, conveyors, and control systems.Good understanding of machining and fabrication practices and abilities is a must.Specific and detailed product knowledge, which can be learned on the job.Lean manufacturing experience preferred.Physical Demands of JobThis position requires the constant use of hands, fingers, and hand eye coordination. This position also requires frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and occasional turning, twisting, bending at waist, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms. Incumbent must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more.
