Location Melvindale MRT Position Manufacturing Machine Maintenance Technician Description
Shrader Tire & Oil (STO) is looking for a Manufacturing Machine Maintenance Technician! This position will be based out of the retread plant in Melvindale Michigan. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes by troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation equipment. The Machine Maintenance Technician works Monday through Friday. This is a hands-on hourly position that reports to the plant manager.
Responsibilities:
* Inspects facility machinery daily to ensure that proper working, cleanliness, sanitary, and safety conditions are met and adhere to compliance of safety regulations and protocols.
* Performs emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
* Performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service to minimize downtime.
* Assists in maintaining systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules and maintains accurate records of these activities and repairs.
* Works closely with and under the guidance of the Plant Manager.
* Perform simple-to-complex duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
* Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust machines.
* Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
* Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
* Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations with proper supervision.
* Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
* Authority to stop production in the event unsafe parts or conditions appear.
* Perform regular maintenance and repairs on industrial automation equipment.
* Collaborate with production teams to identify and address equipment malfunctions.
* Assists in the installation and setup of new equipment.
* Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical drawings and technical manuals.
* Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may be outside the scope of responsibilities noted above.
Qualified candidates should be able to display a proven history of assembly work and have knowledge of the commercial trucking industry. This position requires applicants to be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team.
* Must be able to handle, move, and stack truck tires, tread, and other pieces of inventory. This includes the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Work is performed inside the manufacturing facility, with exposure to dirt, rubber dust, noise, and seasonal temperature changes.
* Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours a day. Occasional bending, walking, kneeling, and stooping are also required.
* Must adhere to the wearing of appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment - goggles, ear protection, safety vests, etc.).
* Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
* Willing and able to work without direct supervision.
* Willing to attend appropriate training sessions.
* Non-exempt position, with occasional overtime needed, especially during the busy season April through October
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
* Must be able to pass a background check including employment history, and criminal history.
* Must submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
