Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance and/or repairs of dairy production and processing equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, as well as utility related equipment. Duties will also include maintenance of building and support equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance as required on all industrial equipment in the plant including but not limited to conveyers, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding (arc/Heli-arc), gearboxes/drives, valves/pumps, federal fillers, n8 filler.
- Able to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480v, 3 phase, read, and interpret electrical drawings.
- Directs and coordinates assembly, fabrication, and installation activities to ensure equipment and systems conform to engineering design and internal specifications and standards.
- Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions or to improve safety, quality, or equipment operating parameters.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and regulations.
- Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
- Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
- Realigns and adjusts functional components and control instruments.
- Locates damaged air and liquid hydraulic pipes, lines, or wires.
- Starts machine and equipment to test operation following repairs.
- Performs set-up and operates metalworking tools (i.e., drill press, grinder, etc.) for the repair or creation of existing parts.
- Weld equipment and parts as needed.
- Reads and understands schematic flowcharts and technical manuals.
- Must follow GMP's, SOP's, and SSOP's always.
- Uses all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Installs equipment for new electrical services (120v, 240v and 480v three phase), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contactors, relays, times, and controls.
- Performs electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair work; installs or replaces circuit breakers, fuses, variable speed.
- Diagnose refrigeration and electrical problems using technical drawings (for example, blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (for example, multi-meter, laptop).
- Performs and assists in all operations maintenance activities. All applicable work is done in accordance with National, State and Local Electrical Codes.
- Uses the company's computerized maintenance management system to record and access maintenance related information.
- Assist the machine operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime. Ensure all repairs are documented.
- Assist in training other maintenance staff as needed.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, and techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Considerable knowledge of and ability to use standard hand and power tools and equipment used in electrical maintenance activities.
- Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and operate hand and power tools in a safe, efficient manner.
- Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of the position.
- Follows all DFA GMP s and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
- Assist as needed on all types of maintenance calls throughout the plant.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or Technical School
- Minimum 3 years of skilled industrial maintenance experience.
- Possess training / experience in at least two or more of the following Areas: Single and three phase industrial electricity and control systems AC/DC drive Systems Pneumatics / hydraulics systems Welding practices and techniques Machining /fabricating practices and techniques Industrial boiler operations Water Treatment Systems HVAC Systems.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen.
Preferred Skills:
- Considerable knowledge and application of safety standards and precautions pertaining to electrical work.
- Training and experience in use of PLC's is a plus.
- Prior experience in a food or bottling manufacturing environment a plus.
- Ability to interpret simple to complex blueprints and schematics.
- Proficient in Preventative Maintenance, over-hauls, modification, and fabrication.
- Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Able to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Description $30 - $35 per hour
