**What You Will Do**
The Procurement Engineering Team under the Supply Chain Logistics-1 (SCL-1) Group is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Procurement Engineer to lead and supervise the Procurement Engineering segments in support of Construction Project efforts at TA-55 and surrounding areas. The selected candidate will assist the first-line manager in supervising and training a dynamic workforce that performs a wide range of activities including participation in project walk-downs, extracting data from engineering drawings and specifications, presenting in ITP meetings, interacting with warehouse personnel, managing CBOMs and other related activities aimed at providing efficient and professional support to its many customers.
The selected candidate will identify inefficient processes, work to continually improve inefficiencies by formalizing and standardizing the subject processes, then apply these principles to and lessons learned to equipment installation projects. The Manufacturing Manager (MM) will assist in building cohesive, high performing teams, direct the daily work activity to meet deliverables and supervise the execution of work in alignment with the organizations' goals and objectives. A MM must be familiar with construction materials, understand LANL procurement processes, supply chain management and LANL QA requirements. The MM will direct team activities to ensure materials and equipment are procured compliantly. The selected candidate will assist in the development of processes and procedures, desktop instructions and training materials for team members and the customers the team serves. In addition, the candidate will be tasked with the resolution of complex procurement issues, participate in high priority IPT meetings, and assist with gathering and reporting performance metrics. This also includes assistance with personnel management, forecasting material needs, staffing needs as well as employee hiring and onboarding. As a working lead, it may be necessary for a MM to manage a handful of small projects, or a large high priority project.
**What You Need**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
+ Proficiency with engineering principles and basic technical responsibilities, including design and systems technology.
+ Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform tasks that will provide succinct communication and guidance.
+ Understanding and experience using Management Levels and QA standards.
+ Familiarity with developing and submitting pre-procurement and submittal evidence packages.
+ Awareness of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the engineering discipline.
+ Previous materials management experience.
+ Ability to work and function with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
+ Familiarity with construction disciplines to include electrical, mechanical, fire protection, sheet metal, carpenters, etc.
+ Familiarity with engineering technical standards to include ASTM and/or ASME standards.
**Computing/Business Systems**
Above average computer skills and demonstrated proficient experience with Inventory Control, Material Tracking systems such as the CBOM, and proficient in various software suites, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
**Customer Service**
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes-stressful situations. Experience interacting professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.
**Communication**
Record of effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, or publications. Ability to communicate findings and make recommendations.
**Organizational Skills**
Possess high attention to detail including excellent organizational skills, analytical thinking, observational skills and problem-solving skills all to include high accuracy. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to the workings of a dynamic and cohesive fast-paced team environment.
**Leadership**
Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead and monitor team efforts. Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment. **Education/Experience**
Position requires a bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Experience preparing and reviewing technical information, developing metrics and presentations.
+ Experience with business operations to include financial, human resources, procurement and other related activities and experience providing customer service.
+ Knowledge and experience applying complex, integrated, and overlapping requirements for nuclear, manufacturing and/or production facilities to include buy not limited to weapon quality and nuclear safety.
+ Experience purchasing material in a nuclear facility and/or high-regulated environment.
+ Knowledge of and experience with ISO and/or NQA-1 quality programs.
+ Knowledge of and experience with the Associate Lab Director for Weapons Production (ALDWP) programs including technical and operational disciplines.
+ Experience working in the CBOM database to include running reports.
+ Active DOE Q Clearance
+ Current LANL HRP participant
+ Knowledge of relevant Laboratory procedures, standards and guides.
+ Knowledge of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA Complex specific codes, standards
**Work Location:** The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
**Position commitment:** Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. **Clearance: Q** (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. **HRP:** This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, 712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
