Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSummary:Dometic Marine's facility in Huntsville, AL specializes in mobile power solutions and manufactures engine ignition replacement parts, DC charging systems, and battery monitoring systems for boats.The Manufacturing Operatorwill be responsible for providing internal and external customers with quality products by working as a team player in a Lean Manufacturing environment. Operators will be required to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and prints; assemble parts per instructions; check for correct fit and functions; operate test equipment; and document actions by completing quality and production forms. Operators will be expected to resolve minor assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications. In addition, operators may be required to perform preventive maintenance and notify maintenance and/or supervisor of major issues. Duties must be performed timely and accurately, in a safe manner that achieves department productivity, quality, and cost targets, all while maintaining good housekeeping using the principles of 5S. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.Main responsibilities:• Ability to complete all stages of manufacturing process including accurately counting, measuring, assembling, and testing, as well as reading and understanding work instructions and drawings.• Must be able to meet department KPI standards (productivity, quality, cost, and safety)• Must have willingness to take ownership of manufacturing processes• Must be able to fill out production and quality control charts and reports• Must be available to work overtime including weekends as required, which may be for extended periods• Must be able to cross train within department and help train new employees• Must be willing to work in other departments as required• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.• Must be reliable and on time to work each day• Must be able to stand, walk about, or sit for extended periods of time throughout scheduled shift• Ability to perform basic math skills and measurementsRequirements• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)• Must be able to read and write English• Practical work experience in related discipline or post-secondary educationPreferred Skills:• Solder certification• Troubleshooting of electronic assemblies• Ability to suggest and implement cost saving ideas• Computer, analytical, and communication skills• Practical work experience operating forklift, hand jacks and other similar warehouse equipmentQuality:• Meet or exceed company standards for productivity• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of product, process or quality system nonconformance• Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process or quality system• Strive to develop and implement continuous improvement into all product, process or quality systemSafety:• Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area using the principles of 5S• Assist in maintaining the security of company property• Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety• Comply with OSHA and MSDS StandardsDometic Overview:Dometic Group operates in the retail industry and manages the manufacturing, sales, and service of products for the outdoor market.
