Monday through Friday 1st Shift 6a-2pJob Title: Press Assistant (Manufacturing Operator II) Job Summary: Assist the press operators in performing setups and run all required production, cleaning, and troubleshooting of the print press and ancillary equipment. Prepare material for packaging, including by not limited to, tagging material, wrapping material, and safely transport to shipping/receiving area using Forklift Duties/Responsibilities/ Essential Functions When In Press Area:
- Follows all safety rules, procedures and guidelines.
- Reports all safety concerns or issues to their immediate supervisor
- Assist the JR/SR Operators in performing daily safety inspections of the press and ensures that the press and press area is free of safety hazards
- Assist in quality and quantity audits of products being printed to ensure products meet specifications.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, work environment which includes maintaining and troubleshooting the printing press and ancillary equipment.
- Uses Best Practices regarding setup time and minimizing waste
- Consults with Operator regarding operational issues and assist as needed.
- Assist with pushing and turning raw stock materials and finished rolls weighing in excess of 1000 pounds.
- Responsible for wrapping and changing rolls on the press.
- Must be able to carry, lift, and pour 40/50 lbs. ink buckets into the press ink trays as often as necessary and conduct appropriate clean-up.
- Assist in the set-up and change press gears; lift and change shafts as needed.
- Assist in blending and adjusting ink as needed.
- Ensures that waste ink and oil is disposed of according to material handling specifications.
- Perform webbing of the stock materials on the press
- Climb ladders to access and wash the press drum area
- Assist in entering production, material, labor, and quality data into appropriate systems.
- Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision and management.
- Trains other employees
- Assist/Run Slitter and Spoolers when needed, as determined by supervision and management
Duties/Responsibilities/ Essential Functions When In Other Operations Areas: The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up and operate machines
- Retrieve material using a forklift
- Positioning cores
- Webbing machine
- Setting blades
- Splicing material
- Monitoring operations
- Troubleshooting
- Operating control panels
- Deshaft materials, including but not limited to, lifting shafts weighing up to 150# between 2 employees, and taking spools weighing up to 60# off the shafts.
- Prepare material for packaging, including but not limited to, tagging material, trimming material, wrapping material, preparing pallets, placing into and accurately recording inventory location and/or taking to Shipping/Receiving area.
- Responsible for keeping area clean and complying with all safety rules and requirements.
- Additional functions include completing Polaris and production forms, cleaning machines, assisting maintenance tech with repairs of machine

- Checking Cylinder/sleeve inventory
- Proof Organization
- Organizing plate, sleeve, and ink inventory
- Plate mounting, mounting upcoming jobs
- Prep plate cylinders and aniloxes based on production schedule
- Maintains ink room in a state of good housekeeping and safe operation
- Handle all ink and follow all safety &/or Haz-Mat procedures
- Produce monthly activity report
- Operate ink evaporator
Performs any other function or responsibility as assignedRequired Qualifications:Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (cGMP experience preferred); 2+ years Flexographic Printing ExperienceRead, write, speak, and understand English. Experience with flexible materials converting including lamination, die-cutting, printing, or other similar disciplines preferred; PC skills including the Microsoft Office suite; possess good interpersonal and teambuilding skills; Reputation as an individual with common sense and good judgment.
