Position Overview
The Process Technical Engineer will be responsible for improving machining methods and processes within the production environment, with a focus on aluminum die casting. This role will involve working on new projects, identifying process improvements, and ensuring that all operations meet production goals, including quality, efficiency, and scrap reduction. The engineer will collaborate with multiple departments, including quality, programming, and production teams, to develop and optimize manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve machining processes for aluminum die casting, including designing fixtures and machining tools.
- Program horizontal and vertical CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
- Work with quality engineers to troubleshoot and resolve customer complaints by identifying root causes.
- Implement and monitor 5S programs in the engineering department to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Create detailed product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Set up production equipment and machining cells to meet customer timing and quality standards.
- Train set-up technicians on new production systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for production equipment in line with manufacturer recommendations.
- Track and assess key metrics, including scrap rates, cycle times, and equipment efficiency, to drive improvements.
- Ensure compliance with approved methods and quality standards throughout production.
- Coordinate the installation of production equipment and production cells as needed.
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred but not required.
- Experience with CNC programming and operation, including CNC milling machines and lathes.
- Strong background in process engineering within a manufacturing environment, especially in die casting or metalworking.
- Familiarity with robotics and automation systems such as ABB, Fanuc, or Siemens is a plus.
- Proven ability to work on projects from inception to completion, including improving processes and solving production issues.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize information and trends.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and procedures.
