Position Description Imagine working on a factory floor that is as clean, bright, and professional as any medical facility. ifm has a wonderful team of a colleagues who are smart and proactive. They genuinely care about each other and the company. At our facility in Malvern, we manufacture temperature and flow sensors that are leaders in the market. We are looking for a hands-on leader who can support our 3 shift leaders and our maintenance team in the management of our 24-hour operation. This role is for the technical leader who is looking for a company that will provide the freedom, resources, and respect that he or she is looking for. From the CEO to the shop floor, ifm lives and breathes the very latest concepts in Lean Manufacturing and one-piece-flow. You will be leading a facility that is state-of-the-art when it comes to manufacturing techniques.
  • The hours of this position are 6am to 3pm, Monday through Friday. This ensures that you can effectively interact with all 3 shifts.
  • Your first project will be to upgrade our maintenance operation. Implement the SAP maintenance module and build an inventory of critical spare parts that is tracked and organized. Ensure that we have an effective schedule of preventative maintenance tasks. Use ifm's own Industry 4.0 tools to expand our predictive maintenance program.
  • Ensure compliance with our safety rules and respond to all safety suggestions and near-miss reports to provide continuous improvement of our safety culture. Be a Lean Manufacturing Champion by supporting and improving Standard Work, 5S, Gemba, and scientific troubleshooting in all areas. This requires daily auditing, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure shift leaders are managing the workload for the highest level of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Support, coach and develop shift leaders and the maintenance team to achieve exceptional levels of performance and job satisfaction by giving real time feedback and conducting formal, biannual performance reviews.
  • Act as a backup to shift leaders in all assembler hiring tasks.
  • Periodically review capacity to ensure we are properly staffed for a minimum of overtime.
  • Become proficient with our SAP ERP system in order to support the above.
Requirements
  • BS in a technical field. Experience in the design and manufacturing of electro-mechanical devices.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience. A lean manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and processes.
  • Technical aptitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills that uncovers root cause.
  • Attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
