Safety Specialist
Job Description
Direct and implement the company Safety Program at three manufacturing facilities located in York County to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. Develop and maintain effective safety and health policies, procedures, and best practices in compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
+ Conduct audits and risk management assessments of facilities, equipment, and safety procedures, and provide corrective action recommendations to management.
+ Collaborate with Management and Operations teams to improve the working environment and reduce potential impacts to employees from operational activities.
+ Review requirements for new equipment, raw materials, or processes to verify that all safety and health requirements are met.
+ Perform incident investigations, maintain records including injury and illness reports, present corrective actions to Management, and track progress to ensure actions are implemented.
+ Manage Workers' Compensation cases to ensure expedient conclusions.
+ Manage and/or conduct all required safety training to communicate safety awareness and safe work methods.
+ Conduct regular fire and evacuation drills.
+ Organize and conduct monthly Safety Committee meetings.
+ Manage the first aid program, including AED and CPR training.
+ Manage all safety-related PPE and supplies to ensure sufficient resources are available.
+ Participate in a continuous improvement process to achieve the corporate goal of zero injuries.
+ Confers with local emergency responders and government officials to ensure cooperation and coordination of plant activities for safe operations and compliance.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) desired or other safety-related certification.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of applicable government regulations, standards, and procedures.
+ Proficient in Excel and Word.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (or related field) is a plus.
Work Environment
The company manufactures wire products in Hanover and York, Pennsylvania. The Quality Management System is ISO 9001:2015 Certified.
