Job Description:

Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a Sanitation Lead to join our manufacturing team in Hanover, PA. Applicants should have knowledge of procedures for cleaning food manufacturing equipment, as well as interpersonal and supervisory skills necessary to lead others. Excellent organizational and procedural skills are needed. This candidate will be responsible to assist the Sanitation Supervisor in executing the daily cleaning and inspections of all equipment used in the facility for processing and packaging of food products, as well as equipment used by associates. The ability to work Monday through Friday 3:00 pm to 1:15 am and a partial shift every other Saturday is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spends 70% of working hours leading a team of associates to clean a designated area according to SOP's and SWI's.
    • Ensures post-cleaning checklists are completed properly and accurately.
    • Uses pressurized air, high pressure water, cleaning chemicals, hand cleaning, squeegees, and motorized sweepers to maintain all equipment and floors. Regularly exposed to hazards of hot water, cleaning chemicals, and wet slippery floors.
    • Fills in for subordinate staff in order to meet production schedules and complete needed work assignments.
  • Spends 30% of working hours assisting the Sanitation Supervisor with overall department administration including the development/improvement of cleaning procedures, cleaning activities listed in the Master Sanitation Schedule, and sanitation /allergen verification.
    • Able to navigate and use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and EAM Systems.
    • Trains and instructs new associates for cleaning procedures and other responsibilities.
    • Develops, motivates, and positions Sanitation associates for skill development and greatest contribution.
    • Provides advice and recommendations to the supervisor upon request and by own initiative.
  • Ability to serve as an interim Sanitation Supervisor in the times of the supervisor's absence.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • General computer knowledge, specifically in Microsoft Suite.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role leading a crew of 15+ employees
  • Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Act as a backup to the department supervisor, enforcing their expectations and policies while fostering a positive team environment and morale.
  • 2+ years of general knowledge of procedures for cleaning food handling equipment.
  • Requires the ability to operate a forklift and high reach or willingness to be trained
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, and lift regularly, and work at heights on ladders above ground level.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE dependent on the task being performed including: rain boots, rain suit, gloves, face shields, googles
