Job Description:
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Production Superintendent to lead and oversee the production team in our fabrication and heavy metal department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal fabrication, welding, and machining, with proven leadership skills to manage daily production activities, ensure safety compliance, and meet quality standards. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to manage production schedules, resolve issues, and drive process improvements.Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of operators, welders, fabricators, and machine operators, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Production Oversight: Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily production activities to ensure efficient workflow, quality output, and timely project completion. Address any delays or bottlenecks to maintain productivity.
  • Quality Control: Enforce quality standards and inspect completed work to ensure adherence to specifications, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Safety Compliance: Promote and maintain a safe work environment, adhering to OSHA and company-specific safety protocols. Conduct safety training, monitor safe work practices, and ensure the proper use of PPE and equipment.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management: Monitor inventory levels and order materials and supplies as needed. Ensure that all equipment and machinery are properly maintained, calibrated, and repaired as necessary.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare daily and weekly production reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and document any incidents, production issues, or maintenance requirements.
  • Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training for team members, conduct performance evaluations, and support team development to enhance skill levels and productivity.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a production/fabrication environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in metal fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, and machining.
    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and quality control procedures.
    • Familiarity with production management software or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead a team, manage conflicts, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve production issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear instructions and report preparation.
Working ConditionsThis role involves working in a heavy industrial environment, requiring frequent standing, walking, and exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.
