Job Summary: The Wilson Landing Forklift Operator serves as an integral part of our team; you will communicate closely with our Marina Reservations team, coordinate with, and lead our Marina Attendants and team as needed to prepare boat club boats and member boats. The Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the forklift in all maneuvers; lifting, lowering, fueling, traveling safely through pedestrian traffic zones, launching and recovering boats within our dry-stack marina.   • Communicate closely with Marina Reservations team on member arrivals, scheduling hoists, trailering services, maintenance calls, etc.
  • Direct Marina Attendants to assist with spotting and vessel preparation for launch and return.
  • Safely and properly launch boats and return to storage bunks.
  • Safely and properly trailer boats.
  • Assist with boat launches and retrievals, vessel tie ups, and stowing vessels.
  • Ensure that forklift is operating safely and schedule maintenance as needed.
  • Perform visual daily inspections on forklift.
  • Perform weekly maintenance - inspect engine fluids, grease all slide surfaces and bearings.
  • Maintain service records and perform routine maintenance on forklift.
  • Assist with Boat club fleet cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain the docks, storage and surrounding area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Assist with boat inspections for both launch and return, report any irregularities if found.
  • Assist and support special events at the marina.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and effectively handle guests requests.
Qualifications:
  • Strongly prefer 2 years of experience operating a forklift at a boat storage facility; prior forklift experience require.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Capable of multi-tasking.
  • Able to perform necessary cleaning tasks to keep the boats safe and operable.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Appreciates and respects nature and our local waterways.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with members, guests and co-workers.
  • High school graduate.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Prefer CPR, First Aid, AED certified.
  • Ability to operate reservation software and tablet.
  • Knowledgeable about boating and local waterways.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent customer service guest relations.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of member/guest information.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work tasks may be performed both indoors and outdoors. Will encounter variable outdoor weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • While performing duties of the job employee is required to reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop.
  • Remain at post standing for extended periods of time.
  • Requires fine motor movements to operate vehicles and equipment.
  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to maneuver, sit and have clear sight and good spatial judgement.
  • Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and crew.
