Construction operations in Alaska are logistically challenging, with many communities only accessible by water or air. Continuing its commitment to excellence, Brice decided to invest in marine capabilities. In 1973, Brice Marine was established with the refurbishment of a surplus Navy LCU. Over 40 years later, Brice Marine transports employees, equipment, fuel, and materials to remote sites around the world. Its vessels have navigated some of the most difficult stretches of water and successfully delivered equipment despite bad weather, shallow water, and challenging conditions. The company also engineered a cutting-edge tug/barge design that streamlines the shipping process. What can you expect? In conjunction with the Vice President and General Manager, as the Marine Business Manager, you will work remotely coordinating marine assets to maximize freight and contract revenue. You will focus on procuring outside freight and contract revenue while providing services to sister companies. It will also be responsible for scheduling, customer/ground crew coordination, and accounting functions. How will you do it?

  • Focus on external customer service and sales to maximize freight volume and ensure marine assets generate revenue to their fullest potential.
  • Interface with the holding line sister companies to maximize Brice Marine utilization.
  • Oversee ground logistics team to coordinate freight loading.
  • Assist with maintaining boat schedules and timelines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to ongoing changes in tasks, priorities, and work environments
  • Create and process all accounts receivable for both contract and freight revenue.
  • Oversee and manage aged receivables to ensure timely collection and minimize outstanding balances.
  • Manage and review accounting system processes, including both cost and revenue.
  • Oversee Brice Marine accounts payable and be responsible for all invoice coding and approval.
  • Assist accounting to implement improvements to the mapped accounting processes with Brice Marine.
  • Acquire and maintain a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting and the general ledger structure.
  • Collaborate with the operations team and Vice President to forecast and analyze costs and revenue projections.
  • Monitor and analyze operations workflow to develop more efficient procedures and resource use while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Facilitate monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, yearly & special Calista Brice reporting requirements.
  • Travel for work-related purposes 20%.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory duties. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong background in marine customer service and sales in Alaska.
  • Extensive experience supporting the marine component of remote Alaska construction, environmental, engineering, and professional service contracts.
  • Ability to maintain and provide information necessary for creating budgets, estimates, and projections.
  • Experience administering contracts and agreements.
  • Ability to coordinate between internal and external freight crews.
  • Must be able to create and maintain schedules and assist with proposal preparation.
  • Experience with accounts receivable, including invoicing and aged receivables.
  • Knowledgeable in economic and accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledgeable of database software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. Microsoft packages.
  • Strong personnel management skills and ability to enforce Federal, State, and company labor and employment regulations.
  • Ability to effectively and constructively evaluate employees and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in an Alaska Native Corporation multi-business.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate and negotiate with inside and outside sources.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in computerized accounting systems and knowledge of company-specific software.
  • Knowledgeable of standard computer software, application programs, and e-mail.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate, solve complex problems and concepts and make decisions based on available information.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be willing to take ongoing educational courses to stay technically current.
Who is Brice Marine LLC looking for? Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ten (10) years' experience in the Alaska marine industry, including Sales, Customer Relations, Freight Management, and Scheduling.
  • Five (5) years' experience in a progressively responsible position required.
  • Valid state driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Marine's Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Multi-variable business experience preferred.
  • Advanced experience in Excel preferred.
