Summary:

Nisga'a Tek is seeking a Marine Deck Officer Warrant Officer MOS 880A/MOS 88K Technical Instructor/Writer in Fort Eustis, VA. Job duties will include providing Simulation Training, Course Development and aiding in Staff Management.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

* Provide technical instructor/writer in all 880A1/2 Marine Deck Officer AIT, PME and functional training courses.

* Shall on a daily basis instruct, research, recommend changes, and update course materials in accordance with prescribed course framework.

* The courses or blocks of instruction cover fundamentals and basic skills of Army watercraft operation incorporating all aspects, to include Deck Seamanship, Vessel Watch Standing, Vessel Piloting, Vessel Electronic Navigation, Celestial Navigation, Shipboard Damage Control, Shipboard Firefighting, Water Survival, Watercraft Safety, Ship handling, Tugboat Operation, and Maritime Simulation utilization.

* All instruction follows a well- standardized method/approach for all courses in the field of Army vessel and maritime operations.

* Perform other tasks including hands-on instruction on various tasks (firefighting, damage control, ship handling), answering questions and follow-up on questions requiring some additional research; up-date lesson plans; review and incorporate lessons learned from CALL; review of POIs, field manuals, and technical manuals to support classroom instruction, prior to class beginning.

* Develop and/or modify lesson plans for assigned area of instruction or for groups of other instructors. Lesson plans typically reflect advanced techniques in instructional techniques and tactics.

* Shall determine the manner in which to best convey the course material to the students using a combination of teaching methods, e.g., conferences, demonstrations, and practical exercises on equipment, to present the subject matter.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

* Have demonstrated experience and knowledge training and performing engineering duties onboard an Army watercraft.

* Knowledgeable in Army Marine Engineering Systems and Army maritime operations.

* Courses or units of instruction cover fundamentals and basic skills of an occupation such as Army vessel maintenance incorporating all aspects of that occupation to include Maritime Diesel Engine diagnostics and repair, Maritime Welding, Maritime Electrical, Maritime Refrigeration, Maritime Hydraulics, and Maritime Damage Control, and Maritime Supply Management.

* Ability to be vetted as meeting the qualifications as a vessel watch officer through the NMC for acceptance as a U.S. Coast Guard approved instructor.

* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions.

* Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Teams). Outstanding communicative skills (verbal & nonverbal).

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree OR relevant knowledge acquired through a minimum of 10 years of experience/training that is equivalent to education/training, United States Coast Guard (USCG) license, and Maritime/Cargo Handling technology degree program.

* Minimum ten (10) years of prior military service as a senior marine engineer (enlisted or warrant officer).

* Minimum of five (5) years of Maritime or Cargo Handling experience; five (5) years of education/training experience; and one (1) year of deployment experience.

* Successfully completed the Installation Staff Contractor Training Course (ISCTC) within the last three (3) years IAW TR 350-6 and TR 350-70 or have the ability to complete it and shall complete it at the first available Government scheduled course.
