Description Gibbs & Cox, a Leidos Company, has an opening for a mid-Level Marine Engineer to support the USCG Ship Design Team. This position is a hybrid position with 2-3 days per week of onsite support at the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) in Baltimore, MD. Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate effect of new or modified subsystems on overall system performance.
- Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS's), Request for Waiver (RFW), and Engineering Changes (EC's).
- Familiarity with USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Conducting analysis and design of auxiliary systems. Depending on engineering background of candidate, the appropriate systems assigned may include one or more of the following: HVAC&R systems (including heating/cooling load, duct sizing and chill water piping calculations and equipment selection), auxiliary systems, power monitoring and control systems, electric propulsion, and power generation.
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and must have an active secret clearance or be eligible to be granted one.
- BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine degree from ABET accredited institution (i.e. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering).
- Minimum of 3 years' documented experience relating to the design of marine systems.
- Knowledge of ABS, USN, and industry standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Security clearance.
- 3 years or more of applicable specialized field experience.
- Additional certifications, such as PE License, PMP, DHS Systems Engineering Certification, or DHS Program Management Certifications.
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs.
