The telecommunicator is also responsible for providing back-up to the Receptionist with the handling of all incoming telephone calls on a multi-switchboard in the Division. The telecommunicator must be able to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Provide a variety of support functions to Marine Patrol Officers, whose area of jurisdiction encompasses all coastal and joint waters from the Virginia to South Carolina State Line. Monitor radio traffic and relay information when communication difficulties exist in the field. Also, broadcast BOLOs for stolen vehicles, stolen vessels, armed robberies, and any other traffic that may affect officer safety. DCI and FIN: Receives requests from field officers for DCI (Division of Criminal Information) and FIN (Fisheries Information Network) computer support.Key Responsibilities:
- Safety of all Marine Patrol Officers. Safety checks and knowing locations of all on duty officers are top priority.
- Maintaining a CAD log for all officer activity.
- Maintaining all training and certifications required.
- Answering incoming calls from the public and transferring to the appropriate employees. Serves as backup for the receptionist. Assists public with general questions as well as violation reporting for law enforcement.
- Being always dependable and punctual.
- Running checks for officers in the field through multiple platforms including FIN, GoOutdoors, CJLEADS, DCI, and eWarrants.
