Vessel operator in the Port of LA/LB seeks maritime HSE manager to develop and implement safety and training programs.
Develop, oversee and continuously enhance safety programs, while also creating and launching new strategies for improvement. This includes managing safety performanceindicators, conducting job safety assessments (JSA), and carrying out risk evaluations.Inspect various work settings, activities, and conditions to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations as well as internal company policies and procedures.Promote safety awareness by being present at vessels and company facilities, collaborating with crews to identify risks and implement measures that will reduce or eliminate hazards related to health, safety, and the environment.Take the lead in conducting internal incident investigations.Coordinate and support both internal and external audits.Organize and conduct safety training for all personnel, including identifying and developing training programs that align with safety goals.Create a safety plan and provide input to other stakeholders regarding safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance performance.Serve as the Emergency Response Team Coordinator.Coordinate external vendor services as required.Perform additional tasks as assigned.Revised Qualifications:
The ideal candidate holds a bachelors degree in safety or worked on vessels, or possesses equivalent training and experience in safety, maritime transportation, basic industrial hygiene, and incident investigation. Experience with ISM code, USCG CFRs, and OSHA regulations is ideal. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication, listening, and organizational skills, and be self-motivated with effective time management abilities.
