We are a fast-growing company in the short-term rental (STR) industry, aiming to expand from 150 to 1,000 properties across multiple markets. Our mission is to provide exceptional guest experiences while building a portfolio of high-quality, STR-friendly properties. We are looking for a Market Development Manager with a deep understanding of the STR or real estate market to help us enter and establish a presence in new locations.
Job Overview:
As the Market Development Manager, you'll be our first hire in this new market. Your role is essential to building our foundation, securing properties, and creating partnerships that support long-term growth. You will conduct market research, establish relationships with property owners and vendors, and navigate local STR regulations to set up a compliant and scalable operation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on building new markets, has a strategic mindset, and excels in real estate or short-term rental environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Research & Analysis: Assess the STR market potential in the target region, identify high-demand areas, and understand competitor dynamics.
- Property Acquisition: Develop and execute a property acquisition strategy by identifying, evaluating, and negotiating potential listings. Build relationships with property owners, real estate agents, and property developers.
- Local Compliance: Navigate local zoning laws and STR regulations, ensure compliance, and obtain necessary permits.
- Partnership Development: Establish partnerships with local vendors (cleaning, maintenance), contractors, and service providers to support operational needs as the business scales.
- Networking & Community Engagement: Represent the company in the local community to build a strong brand presence and foster relationships that will aid in property acquisition and market growth.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data and market insights to make informed decisions about property selection, pricing, and growth strategies.
Requirements:
- Experience: 3+ years in real estate, hospitality, property management, or STR market development. Experience with short-term rentals or local market expertise is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of local real estate markets, zoning laws, and STR regulations.
- Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to manage multiple stakeholders and build strong relationships with property owners and vendors.
- Analytical Abilities: Proficient in conducting market analysis and using data to make strategic decisions.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to the fast-paced demands of a growing business.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
