Job Summary:

University Housing is looking for a full-time Marketing & Printing Specialist to join our team! We are a full-service, in-house marketing and communications team within the UW-Madison Division of University Housing.

In this role, reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, you will use your skills and creativity to produce a wide variety of marketing materials in print and digital mediums for a portfolio of diverse audiences. This position also manages an in-house sign shop, which creates large-format materials and various types of printed and engraved signage for the Division.

Responsibilities:

Contributes to strategy development and implements marketing projects in support of institutional or unit marketing goals.

* 30% Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies

* 40% Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques

* 10% Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities

* 20% Manages and oversees the University Housing Sign Shop operations, plans production schedules and workflows, tracks job progress, maintains equipment and inventory, supervises student members of Sign Shop team

Tasks:

* Plans production schedules and advises customers regarding printing requests and designs

* Demonstrates exceptional customer service

* Incorporates and effectively uses design software and technology to complete work

* Maintains and oversees repairs to sign shop equipment and manages inventory

* Maintains knowledge of ADA and UW signage regulations and adheres to applicable standards

* Advises and consults with staff and leadership on communication and marketing questions, plans, and strategies.

* Coordinates collaborative project teams and incorporates input and feedback from senior staff. Informs staff of project status.

* Establishes marketing material production schedules and monitors to ensure timely production.

* Leads student employees and provides guidance for coordinating projects and tasks.

* Participates and represents unit/program at institutional workshops, meetings, projects and training sessions.

* Participates in planning and implementation of Housing Public Relations communications and special events.

* Recommends and implements format, style, graphic design and related visual arts activities for various Housing publications, photo shoots, videos, websites, social media, promotional displays, and related marketing projects.

* Serves on Incident Response Team for University Housing's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP); Provides leadership and makes decisions regarding and during emergency management; Expected to provide after-hours contact numbers.

* Provides copy writing, editing, website updates, and layout/design for assigned areas and projects.

Education:

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Marketing, Journalism, or a related communications field.

Qualifications:

Required:

* 2 years of experience in a professional position in a marketing, communications, or print production role

Preferred:

* Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools, especially InDesign and Illustrator

* Experience with web content management and web tools, such as WordPress

* Experience working with social media in a business setting

* Experience with engraving and/or large-format sign production, installation and equipment maintenance

* Experience working in a college or university environment

License/Certification:

Preferred

Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may be partially remote, with the ability for 1-2 remote days per week, depending on operational needs and projects.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $50,420 ANNUAL (12 months)

Depending on Qualifications

This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $50,420 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.

Additional Information:

Primary hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Schedule alterations as operational needs and position expectations require.
