ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates, responds and maintains contacts with residential homeowners, builders, developers, business owners considering adding, or replacing natural gas appliances in an existing home to promote the use/retention of natural gas appliances in the existing, new construction residential or commercial markets as the need arises. Provide options on gas appliances, and prepares quotes for installing and piping to appliances. Completes all necessary paperwork to get gas service started or scheduled and follows through with all customer contact in a proper and efficient manner.Distributes signed paperwork/proposals to appropriate departments and works as liaison between internal departments to coordinate installation of gas lines, interior piping, and meter sets/turn-ons.Gather information for feasibilities of single homes as well as existing subdivisions for owners/HOA to extend main extensions and gas service lines.Work with area subcontractors to promote gas usage/installation within an existing structure. Provide support for contractors when in need of meter/gas line upgrades.Liaison between projects with builders, developers, homeowners, business owners, general contractors and internal departments of Engineering, OPS, Accounting and Service on an ongoing basis and coordinate installation of gas lines and interior piping.Schedules visits with builders and developers to maintain face-to-face relationships and promote natural gas, company and sales promotions, co-op information, deliver incentive checks, and efficiencies and savings of natural gas.Gathers information for feasibilities of single homes, developing subdivisions and ALL commercial job requests and deliver to any customer type for main extensions and gas service lines.Establishes and maintains effective and friendly relationships with internal and external customers, builders, general contractors, business owners and general public.Stay abreast of Florida gas code changes, and new gas technology to support professional expertise within the existing residential market. Stays current on District certifications in order to support Operations in emergency situations.Responsibly uses the resources (Salesforce, Dashboard, Outlook, etc.) provided by the District in order to achieve the performance initiatives as established by Manager.Maintain involvement in social, civic, and industry associations, tradeshows and groups.Other duties as assigned.The preceding is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job. The principal duties and responsibilities enumerated are all essential job functions.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:High School plus five to seven years of experience - orTwo years of college (Associates Degree) plus zero to two years of experience.This position is classified as entry level and incumbent will possess the ability to properly manage either the existing residential market OR the new construction residential market OR the commercial market.Representative I: 0-5 years in position Ability to cover one field of expertise (New Construction, Existing or Commercial). This will be an apprenticeship/entry level style of position until minimum requirements are met.ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES: Confirmed, consistent demonstration of highest business ethic practices in advancement of corporate and individual business development.Exhibits superior communication skills to convey information efficiently and effectively with customers, Customer Service team, management, industry representatives, etc.Demonstrated highly-developed interpersonal skills to be able to work with various personality types in all manner of situations. Superior ability to persuade and/or influence people.Exhibits exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated tact in calling on customers, setting and re-scheduling appointments, maintaining follow-up contact, coordinating work with District work crews and building contractors while maintaining a positive demeanor in the most stressful of circumstances.Demonstrated extensive knowledge of District policies, procedures, fees, deposits, gas availability, etc., and knowledge also of local gas market and applicable appliances and contact information with Appliance Alliance members.Confirmed understanding of math needed to work with customer requests. Exceptional skills with written, oral and verbal communication.TECHNICIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:Must possess and maintain valid Florida driver's license and a driving record to satisfy the District and its insurers.Exceptional computer skills with knowledge and ability to use MS Office applications, the District's GIS application, and SunGard Public Sector's relevant softwareDemonstrated outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills for working with various personality types while participating in trade associations, talking with vendors and builders and generating business relationships in a positive manner.Possesses research skills to respond to customer inquires in a timely manner and communication skills to accurately convey information from, to and between all interested parties.OTHER FACTORS:Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.May be required to work other than normal work schedules.May be required to work overtime with little or no notice.Physical Effort: Requires sitting for long periods of time, viewing and working on a computer for long periods of time, standing for long periods of time, walking bending, and light lifting.Working conditions and Hazards: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions.
