Job Description:Supply Leadership Program Member - Various LocationsThe Supply Leadership Program (SLP) is a three-year early talent program designed to attract, develop, and retain high performing candidates into Mars Wrigley Supply Leadership roles.Members of the program are recent STEM college graduates interested in pursuing a career path in Supply Leadership. Over the course of the program, participants will complete three yearlong rotations at one of our Mars Wrigley Manufacturing Sites to develop acumen in Manufacturing at Mars (MSE), Engineering, and People Leadership.Program DetailsThe rotation design of the SLP is designed to maximize the SLP member's exposure to essential experiences that enable the below purpose statement:SLP Purpose Statement | Create a future-ready talent pipeline by attracting, developing, and retaining high potential, diverse talent to become the next generation of Supply Leaders.Rotation Design
  • 3-Year Program
  • 3, 12 month Rotations
  • Rotations across different functions within the same Manufacturing Site
    • 2 essential experiences (e.g., CI Specialist, IE Technician, Project Engineer)
    • 1 leadership experience (e.g., Production Leader, Maintenance Leader)
      • Supervisory shift work with off shift potential
  • Location: One of our 13 North American Mars Wrigley Manufacturing Sites
What are we looking for? The Supply Leadership Program Member is high-potential recent college graduate. Participation in a Mars Internship Program, primarily Mars Wrigley Make and Engineering internships, is a preferred prerequisite. Additional eligibility requirements are listed below:Eligibility:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, food sciences, operations management, supply chain or a comparable discipline
  • Minimum of one recent internship in manufacturing environment (CPG preferable)
    • Focus: Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing/Production Operations, Project Engineering, Project Management, Reliability
  • Exposure to the foundational elements of TPM or lean manufacturing experience
  • Strong desire to work in a manufacturing environment
What will be your key responsibilities? Manufacturing Essential Experience (CI Specialist | Industrial Engineering Technician)The manufacturing essential experience roles are responsible for supporting and leading loss elimination across the Manufacturing Line, Value Streams, and Production Lines through the implementation and application of the Mars Supply Excellence (MSE, TPM) toolkit. Both Manufacturing Essential Experience Roles
  • Facilitate team meetings effectively; communicate opportunities and follow-up on actions
  • Develop to be subject matter experts on the functional/technical aspects of their assigned area/role
  • Active member of at least one Mars Supply Excellence (MSE/TPM) Pillar
  • Lead and support the implementation of key MSE Pillar Essential Element (AM, FMOS, FI)
  • Leverage a suite of Digital Tools to support the implementation and sustainment of MSE
  • Lead root cause problem solving efforts on top losses (cost, waste, performance)
  • Use appropriate problem solving tools (basic and advanced) as needed
  • Provide regular, ongoing communication with production Associates and Line Managers on status of identified losses and improvement activities.
  • Supports Production Team to ensure that all Line and Departmental metrics are achieved
CI Specialist (Manufacturing Essential Experience)
  • Develop expertise in the usage of various data systems to identify top losses
  • Leverage the MSE Toolkit to identify and prioritize loss elimination opportunities
  • Lead root cause problem-solving efforts on key chronic losses for their area of responsibility
  • Coach teams on AM DMS execution and problem-solving skills
  • Expert for the AM DMSs : Centerline (CL), Clean Inspect Lubricate (CIL), Abnormality Handling (AH), and 5S
  • Lead key connection point meetings and own performance data collection accuracy, analysis, and action planning
  • Facilitates and own the Line loss analysis through gathering, interpreting reporting, and actioning against top losses
  • Develops control strategies and decision rules to enable operators to respond to out-of-control situations and improve line efficiencies
Industrial Engineering Technician (Manufacturing Essential Experience)
  • Primary responsibility within the site for KPI tracking and establishing targets (annual, periodic, weekly, and daily)
  • Develop and track against Site budget parameters including waste, labor, and expenses.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities through data analysis, observation, and validate results
  • Develop, track, and continuously improve the Site value leadership (cost savings) agenda
  • Conduct and coordinate analyses to identify and quantify opportunities or shortfalls in operational and/or direct cost financial performance
  • CAB business case development and project justification writing
  • Responsible for Site Activity Management process
  • Provide analysis and data on bottleneck capacity analysis for each process function to evaluate potential capacity constraints
Engineering Essential Experience (Project Engineer)
  • Performs defined assignments in the entry level of the technical leadership career band
  • Responsible for fundamental executional activities of projects
  • Active member of the Central Engineering community, the local engineering team, and project team(s) currently assigned
  • Deploy engineering know-how to successfully support the execution of projects that deliver a sustained technical competitive advantage
  • Managing multiple construction activities while delivering safe, secure, and environmentally responsible results
  • Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays
  • Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc.
  • Providing engineering know-how to support the execution of projects
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources necessary to complete the project
  • Prepare engineering standards, designs, and work specifications; develop project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; and select materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors
  • Contribute to a winning environment that promotes safety, trust and confidence
  • Understand, comply with, and reinforce safety, security, and environmental policies
  • Develop skills that support excellence in execution
  • Ensure fundamental executional activities are aligned with overall project priorities
Leadership Essential Experience (Production | Maintenance Leader)
  • Build an effective team in his/her shift and area of responsibility
  • Manage the training strategy for both individual associates and the team
  • Implement and enforce established policy and area and organizational strategies
  • Conversion - Manage the efforts of multi-line, area, or technology operating teams on one shift in efficiently converting materials into quality products in a safe, secure, and sanitary manner within the product design specifications.
  • Change Agent - Implement changes in methods, equipment, systems, and organization, as needed, to ensure that the objectives of the line/area are met and give input and recommendations for such changes by using a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Area Ownership - Collaborate with the rest of the Area Leadership Team (Area Leader or Continuous Improvement Engineer, Continuous Improvement Specialist, Maintenance Coordinator) to create and execute the reliability strategy for the area of responsibility.
  • Coaching - Coach operators to build their functional capabilities and to drive accountability in Safety, Quality and Food Safety, Autonomous Maintenance, and team engagement.
  • Line Operations - Coordinate materials, staffing, and resources to support line operation
  • Standards Implementation and Adherence - Ensure standards are implemented on shift and in areas of responsibility through effective communication, change management, consistent reinforcement, coaching, guidance, and accountability measures.
  • Associate Safety - Ensure safe working conditions, behaviors, and mindsets by directly implementing Mars Safety programs and driving a relentless focus amongst the Team
  • Food Safety and Product Quality - Ensure the ongoing production of safe and defect-free products consistent with the principles of Mars.
  • Associate Advocacy - Manage associate relations issues and guide and direct the hiring, training, retraining, development, and motivation of Operations associates following self-managed, team-working principles with a minimum degree of guidance from the Area Leader or Value Stream Leader.
  • Engagement - Responsible for facilitating and driving an environment of high associate engagement on the team.
  • Goal Setting and Measurement - With the general guidance of the Value Stream or Area Leader and/or the support of the Continuous Improvement Engineer, establish line and individual performance standards and goals, and measure, control, take corrective action, and report results as appropriate.
  • Troubleshooting - Utilize the technical resources on shift for the preventive maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of process/packaging equipment problems, to effectively use these resources to achieve desired performance levels.
  • Escalations - Proactively identify risks and opportunities and reactively lead on-shift incident resolution when operators require additional support. Prioritize, assign resources against escalated issues, and make decisions to resolve escalated issues.
  • Communications - Ensure that open communications are established and that opportunities to broaden the scope and responsibility of Operations teams/associates are undertaken.
  • Operations Strategy - Participate in implementing improvement strategies to help the line/area perform more effectively in the near term.
  • Recruiting and Onboarding - Responsible for partnering with Talent Acquisition to recruit and select Associates for operations roles and responsible for onboarding associates effectively.
  • Associate Development - Develop associates by mentoring and supporting their development plans and helping them grow in functional capability and long-term career.
