Job Description:

The Master Planner is responsible for identifying gaps and driving solutions for a subset of Corrugated Packaging plants within the short-term planning horizon (0-13 weeks). They will balance demand and supply to meet our short-term and strategic objectives. The Master Planner will work directly with Line Schedulers, Customer Service, Inventory Management, Supply Planning, Area Operations, Finance and Commercial teams, partnering to drive decisions and solutions. The Master Planner will be responsible for maximizing OTIF while balancing cost such as cost/MSF, freight, inventory, and other company objectives.Responsibilities:Balance demand forecasts across plants and machines by proactively reviewing demand against orders and capacity; identify gaps and drive solutions development to align supply plans to meet our short-term, strategic, and financial commitmentsIdentify potential bottlenecks or excess capacity across the plants; develop and recommend proposals to mitigate supply and cost risk or highlight potential commercial opportunitiesEnsure orders are routing appropriately to plants to maximize OTIFMonitor inventory relative to towards and partner with plants to solution exceptionsOn an exception basis, re-balance demand and orders as needed and collaborate with other Master Planners and key stakeholders to balance across areas and regionsLead and participate in weekly calls with key stakeholders and ensure KPI\u2019s, trends, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions/escalations needed are visible. Work with Commercial, Customer Service, Line Schedulers, Supply Planners, Logistics, Finance, and others accordingly.Facilitates connecting short-term supply decisions and plans back to operations, commercial, finance and execution teams as needed to ensure alignment.Facilitate and drive continuous improvement opportunities that target increasing system and process utilization, efficiencies, and throughput in the division to optimize capacity, minimize cost and best satisfy customer requirements (OTIF)Support with strategic initiatives such as establishing plans to support business during capital installations and ensuring execution of customer/plant pairing optimization effortsSupport the implementation of new technology implemented as part of Smurfit Westrock\u2019s transformation effortsMaintain accurate and clean data and ensure system is updated with the most current capacity outlookRequired Experience:Depth of understanding of Corrugated Box Plant operations across order management, design specifications, production planning, corrugator, converting and shippingComprehension of current market conditions and seasonality with the ability to anticipate changesAnalytical and able to logically processes information to produce insights in a consumable format; aggregates, cleanses, and disseminates data in structured formats to support better business decisions and improved performanceProcess oriented - Plans, designs, manages processes while focusing on refining and improving to increase efficiency and effectiveness; understands process inputs, activities, outputs, roles, and sequencingAbility to prioritize, multi-task and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, and attention to detailsExperience with advanced planning software strongly preferred (SAP, Blue Yonder, o9), ideally through implementation of new toolsExperience with Kiwiplan strongly preferredMinimum 5+ years of supply chain or related experienceEducation:BS in engineering, supply chain management, general business administration, operations, or similar fields, or equivalent experienceMaster of Business Administration or relevant MS degree is preferred.Moderate business travel, 10-15%What We Offer:Corporate culture based on integrity, respect, accountability, and excellenceComprehensive training with numerous learning and development opportunitiesAn attractive salary reflecting skills, competencies, and potentialA career with a global packaging company where Sustainability, Safety and Inclusion are business drivers and foundational elements of daily work.Smurfit Westrock (NYSE:SW) is a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions.
