DescriptionMATRIX is are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Project Manager / Coach to join our dynamic team. In this position you will play a crucial role assessing one of our client's project management and controls processes by conducting a thorough evaluation of existing processes, tools, and documentation. This will involve stakeholder engagement, reviewing project data, and benchmarking current practices against industry standards to identify gaps in areas such as planning, risk management, cost controls, scheduling and communication. Based on the findings, you will develop gap assessments, outline key deficiencies and propose a tailored action plan that may include process improvements, technology upgrades, and training initiatives. The focus would be on aligning project management practices with industry best practices to address the identified gaps. Additionally, you assist in triaging active projects by performing detailed health checks, identifying critical risks, and implementing critical project management and controls practices. You may also establish ongoing support mechanisms, such as regular project reviews and monitoring systems, while providing coaching to internal teams. The goal will be to implement both immediate solutions for active projects and long-term strategies that promote continuous improvement and stronger project governance across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in PMI / PMBOK process and methodologies with a background in chemical engineering and manufacturing. Skills: Chemical Manufacturing Expertise: Deep understanding of the chemical production process, including procurement, operations, and supply chain management specific to chemical engineering and manufacturing. Regulatory Compliance Mastery: Expertise in navigating regulations like EPA guidelines, OSHA standards, REACH, and other environmental and safety compliance relevant to chemical manufacturing. Process Engineering Acumen: Familiarity with chemical process design, batch production, and process optimization. Ability to assess how project controls impact production efficiency, yield, and quality. Risk Management in High-Risk Environments: Skilled in identifying risks related to hazardous materials, chemical reactions, and operational safety, ensuring that project controls mitigate these effectively. Environmental and Safety Oversight: Proficiency in monitoring environmental impact and safety protocols in project execution, particularly as they pertain to chemical handling and waste management. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Ability to work with engineers, production managers, and environmental specialists to ensure project controls align with manufacturing and compliance goals. Qualifications: PMI-PMP Certification: Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a focus on industrial or manufacturing sectors. Chemical Engineering Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field. This technical expertise is crucial to understanding the nuances of our clients operations. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing Certifications: Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma techniques tailored to process improvement in chemical production environments. EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Training: Specialized training or certification in environmental, health, and safety management in industrial settings, particularly in chemical and hazardous materials handling. Experience: 10+ Years in Chemical or Process Manufacturing: Extensive experience managing large-scale projects within the chemical manufacturing sector, with a strong track record in delivering complex projects that span R&D, manufacturing, and distribution. Project Controls in Chemical Engineering: Proven expertise in applying cost controls, scheduling, and resource management to chemical production projects, where process efficiency and material management are key. Compliance and Safety Auditing: Experience conducting audits or assessments of regulatory compliance, environmental impact, and safety protocols in chemical plants. Process Optimization Projects: Demonstrated success in optimizing chemical processes, including improvements in production throughput, waste reduction, and energy efficiency through effective project management. Stakeholder Engagement in Chemical Operations: Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and internal production teams to ensure that project outcomes meet both operational goals and compliance requirements.
