**_What Chemistry Services contributes to Cardinal Health_**
Chemistry services performs laboratory testing to characterize the chemistries of our medical device products and stability testing for pharmaceutical products of Cardinal Health. Under the umbrella of QRMA, Chem Services develops and executes test protocols utilizing specialized instrumentation and analytical techniques to characterizes medical devices, materials, and processing aids for chemical properties of concern or the chemical constituents which may be released when a device is utilized during clinical use. The Chemistry Service will also use specialized instruments to perform Assay and impurity/degradant tests for stability and release testing for solid dose pharmaceutical. Chemistry Services is a part of QRMA Scientific Services.
**_Responsibilities_**
+ Responsible for working on complex and challenging testing methodologies. This position performs protocol driven and routine testing per job duties listed in the job description (i.e, FTIR-Microscope, DSC, TOC, TGA etc.). Performs data compilation, review and performs trend analysis on data as applicable.
+ In addition, this position is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of ICP/OES and / or ICP/MS instrumentation with AAO.
+ Serve as material analysis expert and elemental analysis to support Technical and Advanced Analytical Operations.
+ Ensures that the necessary analytical tests are done according to the test specification, test method and working instruction and to ensure testing is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
+ Required to prepare samples/standards/reagents and conduct complex qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis and experiments using chromatography or other spectroscopy instrumentation, as needed.
**_What is expected of you and others at this level_**
+ Required to prepare samples/standards/reagents and conduct complex qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis and experiments using laboratory instrumentation.
+ Maintain records consistent with quality system to ensure proper repair and preparation of systems. Prepare technical protocols and reports.
+ Hands on operation knowledge of instruments; TGA, FTIR, DSC, ICP/OES or ICP/MS, etc. Experience with data acquisition software, such as Agilent ECM, OpenLab CDS desired.
+ Knowledge of FDA, ISO and EU MDR regulatory requirements as applicable to medical devise preferred.
+ Good understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure compliance of systems and procedures.
+ Provides technical support in investigations of equipment and production failures ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed satisfactorily.
+ Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, and adaptability.
**_Qualifications_**
+ B.S., M.S., or PhD in a scientific/engineering field, masters degree or equivalent experience preferred.
+ 5+ years of experience for B.S.; 3+ years of experience for M.S: 1+ years of experience for PhD.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office and LIMS.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills. The incumbent has daily contact with a variety of research personnel, technical peers, and appropriate managerial personnel, as well as frequent contact with customers, clients, vendors and suppliers.
+ Must be able to accurately and effectively convey recommendations, data, observations, results and problems to co-workers and customers.
+ Lab experience includes research in GMP/QSR environment; leadership of technical teams, and project management experience is desirable.
