Performs daily warehouse duties for the provisioning of materials supporting requirements for Network Operations, OST, OSP Construction, Sales, and Customer Service. Routine duties include receiving, stocking, shipping, staging, tracking, planning and allocation of regulated and non-regulated materials, non-inventory and inventory materials. Also, duties include requisitioning, Inventory management and all related system transactions for the provisioning of this material.
ResponsibilitiesMust be fully trained and familiar with every function involved in the daily operations of the warehouse.
Oversee special projects and additional tasks or activities as assigned.
Process orders timely and accurately for customer's needs.
Process material transactions and annual inventory efficiently through Peoplesoft Financials.
Manage the logistics of repaired materials, warranty check and ensure equipment is repaired in a timely fashion.
Maintain inventory levels in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
Unload and receive materials, including central office, business systems, exempt, miscellaneous project and Outside Plant materials including cable, poles, and other materials as required.
Process requisitions for materials needed by employees and contractors as directed by Management.
Handle customer needs timely and efficiently.
Notify other departments/customers upon arrival of ordered materials.
Operate the forklift in a safe and efficient manner; maintain forklift certifications.
Maintain warehouse shelves and cable yard in a neat and orderly fashion. Being efficient in arrangement of all materials in both the warehouse and cable yard so all personnel can effectively work in the area.
Document and maintain all records efficiently and accurately including both manual and computer records. All entries should be completed within twenty-four (24 hours) of actual transaction.
Drive company vehicle when required.
Package, label and ship materials to other locations as required. Maintain all logs accurately.
Assist other areas of the Purchasing & Material Control department as required or as directed by Management.
Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Wear appropriate clothing including hard hats, when required.
Maintain timely scheduled delivery of supplies and mail to various CCI locations.
Prepare and send inter-company, Fedex and US Postal mail to all CCI markets as well as internal and external customers.
QualificationsMust pass a Material Control Specialist Aptitude testing.
Must pass Material Control Specialist Physical Standards testing.
Must possess a State of Illinois driver's license and be an insurable driver.
Must be certified Forklift Operator within 30 days, dependent on the availability of a qualified trainer to complete the certification.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with regard to inventory control.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Problem Solving/Decision Making: Possess ability to resolve inventory discrepancies effectively and in a timely manner. Possess ability to resolve material shortages for both external and internal customers.
Personal Interaction Requirements: Work closely with other employees and contractors. Work closely with internal customers in the provisioning of materials. Work with other SCM departmental personnel in the performance of their duties as required.
Computer Skills: General computer skills required with the ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes email. Must be able to process material control and requisition transactions and perform general inquiries within PeopleSoft Financials.

TWISTING: Must tolerate frequent periods of intermittent twisting while standing on a stepladder or stepstool or twisting while unloading a truck as well as obtaining supplies, performing physical inventory.
BENDING/STOPPING: Must be able to tolerate frequent periods of constant bending and Stooping
KNEELING: Must tolerate occasional periods of intermittent kneeling.
REACHING: Must tolerate frequent periods of constant reaching.
HANDLING: Must tolerate constant periods of constant handling to manipulate objects such as office supplies, paper, telephone, telephone directories, and cardboard boxes.
SEEING/FIELD OF VISION: Requires near visual acuity to read supply books, computer text, computer keyboard, purchase orders, work orders, requisition orders. Far visual acuity necessary for driving. 360 degrees for safe operation of forklift. Color differentiation for colored supplies.
HEARING/TALKING: Must be able to communicate with customers and fellow workers in other departments.
VEHICLE DRIVING: Must be able to drive a vehicle for distribution of supplies, Stock and mail to and from other storage facilities.

Other Information:
Work Environment: Non-air conditioned room with ventilation fans within it and heaters for colder conditions. Employee must go outside to obtain, load, unload, and transport mail and supplies to various locations as needed. At those times the employee is exposed to heat, cold and possible precipitation from the outside environment.
