MATERIAL FLOOR SUPERVISOR Auto Manufacturing 100% On-SitePOSITION SUMMARY:The Material Supervisor is responsible for day to day material planning activity to control purchasing amounts & inventory budget. Foresee and prevent any premium freight, to ensure minimum cost and zero customer line interruption.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Report Inventory Amount, Days of Inventory (DOI), and all spending within budget.
- Manage and control discrepancies, and escalate potential supply issues.
- Responsible to expedite and order premium freight (air freight, trucking) for urgent parts in advance to ensure timely delivery.
- Manage the delivery schedule of incoming containers.
- Analyze material usage vs. need to increase inventory efficiency and promote cost reduction.
- Responsible for time approval and general supervision of MP&L employees.
- Assist with development of the logistic strategy to account for global supply fluctuations.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with scheduling activities that optimize inventory turns.
- Participate in the development of the company goals and objectives to support the annual business plan.
- Delegate responsibilities and manage assigned employees.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring decisions; train and monitor employees' performance.
- Ensure all employees comply with company rules, policies, procedures and regulations, while meeting established productivity targets.
- Support and participate in EHS objectives.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE:
- Bachelor's degree in field related with production and inventory control and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 4-6 years of experience in Materials Management and Operations required.
- Experience in auto manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
- Experience in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- Knowledge and use of Materials Information Systems and methodologies.
- Strong grasp of Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and perform in a deadline driven environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- Supervises MP&L employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office work environment (Primary).
- Plant work environment with fluctuations in temperature (hotter in the summer, cooler in the winter). Exposure to certain noise levels and bright lights.
- Warehouse work environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
- Ability to reach up above the head.
- Ability to bend and stoop.
- Ability to focus for extended periods of time
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
TRAVEL:
- Periodic travel may be required by car or plane.
