JOB PURPOSE This position is responsible for the transport of material within the facility. The Material Handler will move raw material, work in process, and finished goods to their required locations. The Material Handler will document material movement per established procedures. The Material Handler must follow all procedures along with strict adherence to the Quality System. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all Safety Principles.
- Adhere to all Quality System Standards.
- Examine components and compare with records, such as job routers, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of records.
- Sort material and route to proper location.
- Move, convey, or hoist material to storage or work areas.
- Package finished components.
- Keep shelves, pallets, receiving, and shipping areas clean and orderly.
- Assist in on-the-job training of other employees.
- Participate in Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery improvements.
- Any other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to read and understand Safety Rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions.
- Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack, hand truck and other material moving devices.
- Ability to use common hands and power tools.
- Ability to complete routine forms, i.e., Non-Conforming Material Report.
- Ability to communicate effectively with work groups.
- Ability to apply problem solving techniques to troubleshoot and implement corrective action.
- Forklift truck training certification
- Three to six months warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in an operational manufacturing warehouse environment. Specific job assignments may require day, evening, weekend, or holiday hours. Overtime may be required to meet production needs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Team members are constantly standing, walking, carrying, pulling/pushing, bending, seeing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing, using hand and power tools, as well as handing paperwork. Team members will be lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. or less regularly.
